"The property is beautiful but the pool was cold. I don’t know why they don’t heat it. The water at the beach is almost completely brown from the river water that flows in next to it. And it rained every day we were there. Most of the rain isn’t bad. One day it rained hard and we all had to leave the pool and go inside. The disc golf course wasn’t usable because I was told they don’t maintain it. My daughter wanted to drop in the kids club for a hour but that’s only possible two days a week. The gelato and shaved ice shop was closed for renovations (in July really?!?!). The staff was friendly. My son loved the soccer camp. The food was good and the grounds were beautiful, but I won’t be going back."

"Great property and location. It’s in a remote area north side of the island. Often we had the entire beach area to ourselves which was delightful. At night listening to the sound of waves is so relaxing. I would note two things not stated in the listing. The house sits on stilts as most do in the area with a staircase to climb going in and out. Wasn’t an issue but I was glad my elderly mother chose not to join us on the trip as it would have been difficult for her.The house does not have AC. At first I was a little concerned but the design is so clever with plenty of windows we could open with a cool cross wind blowing through constantly. Turned my concern into an absolutely delightful experience not needing AC and enjoying nature at its best!"

"Our stay at Hanalei Colony Resort was nothing short of exceptional—an easy 10/10! From the moment we arrived, we knew we had found a truly special place. If you’re looking for peace, relaxation, and the authentic beauty of Kauai, this is it. The location is absolutely breathtaking. Waking up to the lush mountains, listening to the waves, and enjoying the cool trade winds made every day feel like paradise. The climate was perfect for us—comfortable temperatures, fresh ocean breezes, and just enough tropical rain to keep everything incredibly green and beautiful. The entire staff was warm, welcoming, and genuinely helpful throughout our stay. Every interaction made us feel like valued guests, and their hospitality added so much to our experience. We completely fell in love with Hanalei and the North Shore. The slower pace of life, stunning scenery, amazing food, and friendly people made it incredibly difficult to leave. It was exactly the kind of relaxing vacation we had hoped for. Hanalei Colony Resort provided the perfect escape from busy everyday life. Whether we were enjoying the views from our lanai, exploring the area, or simply unwinding, every moment felt peaceful and rejuvenating. We are already planning our return trip next year.
