The Space:
Camp Because I said I would is owned by a charity, so 100% of our fees go to our nonprofit. Because I said I would is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and we have programs for families in bereavement at this camp. However, we rent our 5 resort cabins during downtime to generate funding for the charity!
Our 92-acre camp and retreat center is in the heart of Amish Country in Knox County where it is very peaceful, private and quiet. Our property features a 1.5-acre swimming and fishing lake (seasonal), a 2-acre vineyard, 1-mile of privately-owned canopied forest trails. We are so much more than just a place to sleep!
Guest Access:
Guests access this cabin from our second driveway and a property map is provided after booking. We have digital keypad access! Please note you have to drive down a gravel road for about a half mile to get to our property. There are 2 parking spots for cars right next to the cabin, but more parking is available on our property if you are OK with walking a bit.
Other Things to Note:
If you are interested in booking multiple cabins, we have 5 cabins with a total of 16 bedrooms and 13 baths. We have 5 hot tubs on the property, so every cabin gets its own 😊 If you have any other questions, please let us know! Thank you for your interest in a cozy stay, but also for the impact your cabin rental fees have in supporting our charity and the families in bereavement we serve.

We absolutely loved this sweet cabin. It was even better looking in person than the photos. It was clean, well-stocked with supplies, and easy to check in/out. We had a great time and will definitely be back. The dried fire wood provided was clutch for the inside fireplace.
The cabin was very nice inside. I wish I had asked for more information how to access the kayaks for the lake. A suggestion could be to have the signage re the cabin location more visible. Overall I would return especially now that I know the area better. I understand you are not renting after the close of the season. Thank you for allowing us to check in early
The best small cabin we have stayed in. Loved the fire pit area. The well manicured areas added to make an enjoyable stay. We highly recommend any couple or small family to look into this cabin...
Absolutely fantastic! Hot tub was so clean. The cabin was very clean and perfect. Appreciated the hand soap, paper towels, toilet paper Grounds were beautiful. Check in and check out was simply awesome. Would definitely go back Wanted to stay longer. Recommend it 100%Thank you for our fantastic stay!
Everything was spotless, and all necessities were provided. The hot tub was clean, and easy to use; the location was perfect for fly fishing and grilling and campfires. Highly recommended for a rustic (yet has TV, and some cable channels- we had Netflix for 2 days) getaway -We loved this place. Thank you!
Very nice getaway for a small family or two couples. Check-in process was as easy as it gets (although I wish it could be a little earlier than 4pm). Very clean cabin, nice beds and bathroom. Make sure to bring charcoal if you want to grill.
Did struggle actually finding the cabins once we arrived but once we figured out to go to the very end of the driveway we were all set. We all absolutely enjoyed our mini stay. It was peaceful and relaxing. Loved that it was wheelchair accessible my daughter who is non verbal and has cp could enjoy it too. We wish we made more time to enjoy all that available but we are already planning at least 2 more stays this year.
Had a short stay, just 2 nights, but the inside of the cabin is great. Had good pots and pans and a comfortable bed. There are free to use canoes/kayaks, and while we didn’t use them, we would’ve if we’d had more time and the weather cooperated. Nice hiking trails, fire pit, and hot tub that was bigger than I initially thought. The staff was also helpful.
