The charming coastal town of Schillig captivates with its unique location right on the Wadden Sea, an UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. In just a few minutes’ walk, you can reach the swimming beach, dog beach, and nature beach, as well as cosy restaurants and cafés in the town centre and along the dike.
Just a few kilometres away, the idyllic neighbouring town of Horumersiel invites you to stroll and linger. There, you’ll find a small shopping street with boutiques and bakeries. A large EDEKA supermarket is located at the entrance to the town. A paved coastal path connects the beaches of both spa towns and invites you to take long walks right along the water or across the mudflats.

The health resort of Schillig (Zone 1) is subject to a visitor’s tax. Therefore, a visitor’s tax must be paid on site. This tax is based on the number of people, their ages, and the length of stay. Information on the high and low seasons and the corresponding prices can be found on the Wangerland Touristik website.
The following are exempt from the visitor’s tax:
a) Children up to and including 3 years of age.
b) Severely disabled persons whose “degree of disability” (formerly: reduced earning capacity) is 100% according to an official ID card.
c) Severely disabled persons who, according to their official ID card, are completely dependant on constant assistance (marked with a “B” on the ID card). This means: regardless of the degree of disability (e.g., GdB 80% and designation “B”).
d) Companions of severely disabled persons who, according to their official ID card, are completely dependant on constant assistance.
