Charming, private 2-bedroom cottage on classic New England farm in Washington CT

Located on one of the prettiest streets in Washington CT and abutting 900+ acre Hidden Valley section of Steep Rock Preserve, this adorable cottage is the perfect getaway. With 2 large bedrooms, wood-burning fireplace, AC, WiFi, and washer/dryer, guests will feel right at home. The cottage is in a private location on the farm, with its own back garden complete with Weber grill, and overlooks classic red New England barns as well as a large pasture for the farm's goats and pigs. 5 minutes from Depot town center, from Lake Waramaug, Frederick Gunn School, Rumsey Hall School, and the Mayflower Inn. Twenty minutes to Litchfield, Kent, Kent School, and Taft School. We hope you'll enjoy your stay at our cottage! (PS there are roosters on the farm and older plumbing so there’s not the most robust water pressure and showers must be taken sequentially)

This cottage was perfect for us. The rooms were comfortable and cozy, location was great for us to get to several towns and parks for hiking, and while we didn’t do much cooking we were well equipped if we had wanted to. Ashleigh was a wonderful host, responding quickly to our questions and making time for us to meet the goats and pigs. You won’t regret your decision to stay here!

Ashleigh was a perfect hostess answering any questions quickly and gave great instructions. The house was wonderful, comfy beds and full kitchen. We didn’t cook but it looked like anything needed was there. Very private and tranquil-ok, there is a rooster in the neighborhood but once he woke his ladies he quieted right down. Would have loved to stay longer and would go back in a heartbeat.

Great stay!

Ashleigh was a great host. Everything you need to know about the property was on the listing - it is on a farm, so you will hear roosters throughout the day. The water pressure is low as described, so we did all take one shower at a time and had no issues.The property itself was very beautiful, spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed being able to see the goats and pigs and Ashleigh was very responsive with all communication before and during the stay. We also greatly enjoyed the bread and eggs that were made available.The property was also very close to town, so we were able to reach it quickly and easily. We were in town for a wedding, and the venue was also very close to the cottage, which made it very convenient to travel to and from. We would highly recommend staying at Ashleigh's cottage!

Perfect, peaceful, cosy place for our family!

My family just spent a lovely week in this cottage. We came from CA and met up with my son who is an east coast college student, gathering our family to relax together in the peace of the countryside. While this cottage looks small on the outside, it actually has two spacious bedrooms, an office, a tv room, a living room, kitchen and laundry/mud room. It was the perfect size for the four of us. We had a blazing fire in the fireplace; we had all we needed to cook great meals; we felt so at home on the comfortable beds and couches, and enjoyed the lovely furnishings and details of this well-appointed cottage - the paintings, the books, the photos of the farm animals. Speaking of the animals – it was so nice to chat with the15 goats and scratch their chins and to see how friendly pigs are (they wag their tails when you talk with them!). Ashleigh was an attentive hostess and shared her eggs and her sourdough bread with us. She was quickly responsive to our questions. We had some absolutely gorgeous hikes in the preserve that abuts the property, enjoyed walking up the road to the horse farm, went into the charming little town center – which, as rumor has it, is the inspiration for Star Hollow in The Gilmore Girls. We did need to use only one shower at a time due to water pressure – this was not a problem for someone who knows old homes and grew up in one myself.. And all this – just about two hours from NYC – where we did go for a long day. Highly recommend! We will be back!

Four of us were in town for a family party and really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It’s peaceful, cozy, very well appointed, and wonderfully decorated. We also enjoyed a visit with the goats!

Lovely cottage in a beautiful setting. Well appointed and lots of room to relax, both indoor and outdoor. It was a perfect place to stay while we attended a wedding in the area.
