Hillside Haven 1 Bedroom with Hot Tub

  • Come unwind at this charming cabin nestled in the serene woods of Sussex, NB! Its prime location makes it a highly coveted retreat spot, as it`s only 1.25 km from Poley Mountain - perfect for bringing your mountain bike in the summer and your skis/snowboard in the winter! Looking for a change of scenery from your work-from-home routine? The Town of Sussex is a wonderful destination to explore. With its family-owned eateries and cozy coffee shops, you`re sure to find a delightful experience.

    The space is a small cabin. There is a queen bed and a single bed in the loft upstairs.

    All spaces are private, and guests use only.

    As a personal opinion, I don`t believe it is small child friendly due to the sleeping arrangements.

    Loft stairs are narrow.

    The fire pit is not maintained in the winter months but can be used at renters` discretion.

    There is a $30 fee for pets. Please let us know in your booking request if you are bringing your pets.

    Just a heads-up: When you check in, we`ll put a $500 hold on your credit card that you used to book your stay. This hold will be released within 72 hours after you check out, provided everything`s in good shape.

    CANCELLATION. In the event of a cancellation by the guest, refunds will be processed according to our cancellation policy, minus any credit card processing fees (these credit card fees only apply when booking direct or through VRBO or Booking.com).

Upon entering the cottage, it was nice and bright, clean. Nice loft with two beds was noted above entrance in kitchen. Kitchen was equipped with most everything extra you might need. The heat pump fan made noise. Bathroom with laundry facilities could be a plus for some people. Downstairs I found a nice rec room with comfortable couch that can open to a bed. Also a bathroom with sink and toilet. I came back up looking for the bedroom. Apparently the bedroom is above the entrance, what I called a loft because it’s a ladder to go up and down. The hot tub was nice. Well taken care of. It’s close to Sussex, easy to find location. It’s on a main road so there was the sound of traffic, not nature. There wasn’t any cellphone reception except for text. Therefore I missed all my calls regarding the balloon fiesta. The price was doubled the normal rate. . I was splurging because it was a bucket list weekend. Then the host extra fee was same as one night stay. So I paid a lot. I expected more.

Modern and cozy

Cabin was clean, modern and cozy. Far enough from the neighbours that you are private. We could see lots of stars. The stairs to the loft area are narrow, steep and a bit slippery.

Hillside Haven should be known as Hillside Heaven because that is what it was for us. My husband and I and our two little dogs enjoyed our three day stay very much. The little house was much more spacious than you could imagine from the pictures. There is lots of privacy - no one can see you in the hot tub from the road. The view is only woods in all directions. It was very easy to relax outside with a wood fire in the outdoor fireplace and so many birds singing in the trees. It is located just a skip down the road from Poley Mtn and a few minutes from charming downtown Sussex. Everything you needed in a rental was provided, including a Keurig coffee maker AND a drip coffee pot with paper filters. The hot tub and the house were in new condition, well maintained, and very clean. We appreciated that the host texted us several times during our stay to make sure all was good. We would definitely book here again.
