This was one of the most peaceful stays we have ever had. Debbie and Allen were phenomenal hosts. Beautiful home and surrounding grounds. Breakfast was very filling and you will not leave hungry. Planning to come back and that was before I even walked in the door!

My husband and I have been coming up north to the Eagle River area for many years and typically stay in a cottage on a lake. We decided to try something new this year and stayed at Debbie and Alan’s bed and breakfast. The property was absolutely stunning and the location was great. Debbie and Alan were wonderful hosts providing great conversation, tips about local spots to visit and absolutely incredible breakfasts. We really loved our stay and hope to visit again!

Our Favorite Northwoods Gem
Forest Gardens Getaway is our favorite stay ever in the northwoods of Wisconsin. If you are searching for a quiet, beautiful asylum to destress and chart adventures in the Cisco Chain, Sylvania Wilderness or Porcupine Mountains; it is unequalled. This pristine, architecturally unique home is situated on a private lake with gardens and walking trails. The home itself is designed with contemplation and privacy as its focus; as the four bedrooms are located at the opposing sides of the home on two levels. We found the bed to be very comfortable with top quality sheets. There was even a little waterfall outside of our bedroom window to lull us to sleep. There is a screened gazebo with comfortable furniture, which overlooks the lake to share with other visitors. The owners, who designed and built this custom pine and river rock gem from the floors up, could not be kinder. The breakfast was superbly prepared from the finest ingredients. We could not recommend this humble abode, with its wonderful creators, more. A visit to be cherished.

Amazing home and amazing stay
Debbie and Alan are the best hosts we’ve ever had. We only stayed the night but that evening was so relaxing, the bedroom was perfect and the breakfast was fantastic. We recommend anybody stay here if you’re looking for a nice quiet retreat.

Lovely getaway!
We absolutely loved our stay with Alan and Debbie! They’re property is beautiful, peaceful, and cozy. And the breakfasts…. Yum!! They have truly poured their hearts and souls into this slice of paradise, thinking about every little detail. We felt welcomed and comfortable from arrival to departure. Even made friends with the other guests (who have unofficially became our adopted kids haha). If/when we’re up that way again we would undoubtedly stay there again! Much love to our fabulous hosts!

Beautiful Getaway
Debbie and Alan’s home and property were lovely. We walked the trails on the grounds and enjoyed the peace and quiet in lush surroundings. The beds were comfortable and the breakfast they made for us was incredible. Everything included in the meal - and it was a lot! - was delicious. Debbie and Alan made it easy to be in their home. They were available when we needed them and unobtrusive the rest of the time. I want to go back - soon and offen!

Honeymoon Retreat
Beautiful and peaceful bed and breakfast retreat, perfect for a remote getaway! Private access to a lake for canoing and kayaking (provided), as well as a gorgeous home, my wife and I really loved our honeymoon there, and are already planning to return in the future. Deb and Alan were a joy to talk with, and she made some amazing breakfasts, gourmet quality, yet there was plenty of privacy. Also, practically any ammenity and comfort you could hope for is thoughtfully provided. If you like to get away and not stress, I'd highly recommend. There are plenty of natural sights to see and good foods to eat with plenty of hidden gems as well. Even the drives are beautiful and relaxing. There's plenty more that could be added, but overall 10/10 highly recommend!

Spectacular Accommodations!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this gorgeous wood and stone home overlooking Twist Lake. Beautifully decorated with attention to so many details like piped in bird sounds from the outside. The gourmet breakfasts were fantastic. Living quarters were very private and quiet. We were so happy with this little piece of heaven!

Peaceful forest getaway
This place was an absolute gem. My husband and I were needing a peaceful vacation after our son got married and this was perfect. Between the beautiful and delicious homemade breakfasts, the hospitality of Debbie and Alan, and their help getting us to see all the best tourist spots, we couldn’t have been happier with our stay. We got a chance to visit with Debbie and Alan for a while one morning and share our family with them. They were a joy to talk to. We would definitely stay here if we are ever again in the area. Truly a Getaway
I had a wonderful weeklong stay at Forest Gardens Getaway with Debbie and Allan. They have perfected the subtle and detailed art of hosting, and their large custom home on a lake was the perfect accomodation. Their location is literally surrounded by National Forest lands with trails for outdoor activities of all kinds. So quiet, so peaceful, and yet a perfect launching point for the day's activities. I went to see UP's fall colors and they did not disappoint! Debbie makes a full breakfast from scratch and it is divine. Cannot recommend this place enough for solos and couples, whether you're looking to explore the Northwoods or simply escape from urban life. The place and the people make this the most amazing experience.

Outdoor Paradise
We can't say enough about our stay at Forest Gardens Getaway. Debbie and Al were wonderful hosts and the property was exactly as described in the listing...truly a forest gardens getaway. You can definitely appreciate the personal touches in the home, from the architechture, to the great breakfasts, to the landscape and stunning views inside and out! All of our needs were exceedingly met, down to the bed which was more comfortable than our own. I only wish we had more time because there was so much to do and we felt very welcomed from the time we arrived until the day we left. We came as strangers but left as friends, and can't wait to visit again. Thanks to Debbie and Al for a much needed escape to paradise!

A wonderful hideaway in the Ottawa National Forest

Perfect Getaway B&B!
Online booking was so easy to do and we liked that they did not require a 2 night minimum to stay since we were only in the area for 1 night. Debbie and Alan were very welcoming upon arrival and had great suggestions for things to do. Home is secluded and extremely quiet/peaceful. This place is a hidden gem! If you're looking for a peaceful place to relax and recharge, this is it! The house is big, beautiful, and clean. It's basically a retreat in the woods without the crowd. Want to go canoeing? There’s a lake in the back and canoes for your use. You rather just relax? The gazebo offers a great place to sit, listen to the wind, watch the trees, and observe the birds. Exceptional setting to practice mindfulness and meditate. The best part… the amazing hosts and the delicious breakfast. We look forward to returning again in the near future.

I booked this B&B despite the low reviews on Travelocity, strange name (later found out the name is actually Forest Gardens Getaway and they had been in business 5 years), and the fact that I was routed to pay via Vrbo (a site I was not familiar with). I even thought about canceling the reservation but my boyfriend was so taken with the photos that we decided to take the risk. I later found reviews of it elsewhere and was less stressed about the booking. We planned to come out of the Sylvania Wilderness after a week with no phone and go straight to the B&B. I had messaged them in Vrbo before our trip and Debbie responded quickly with driving instructions and their phone number. We arrived at the gorgeous location and Debbie and Alan met us outside as we stretched our legs. I can’t express enough how gracious, warm, welcoming and helpful they were. Debbie went above and beyond to help us get dinner reservations last minute and also when I was sick the next morning giving me their Gatorade. We thoroughly enjoyed our chats with Debbie and Alan, they are both very genuine and seemed like wonderful people. And their property…wow! Absolutely gorgeous. The room we were in had a beautiful view of a garden and the kitchen was next to their small lake, which in the morning had a beaver in it munching on some greens. Breakfast was absolutely superb, Debbie is a wonderful cook. A hosts, A location, A breakfast, A experience overall. It was the perfect way to end our vaca.

Wonderful Retreat Experience
This bed and breakfast is a warm retreat that is very special. The hosts are a wonderful couple who make every effort to insure their guests are comfortable. We were greeted with delicious chocolate chip cookies and a coffee/tea bar was always available. The included breakfast was always delicious, The home itself is a wonderful design and the grounds add to the experience with a rock garden and water element.

We so thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay with Deb & Alan at their incredible Northwoods escape. About 20 minutes after our arrival, we were planning our return! We've stayed at many B&B's over the years, and this one - by far - surpassed all of our other experiences in every way. Deb & Alan are natural hosts, and really do make you feel at home *instantly*. The property is spotless and breathtaking, and the breakfasts are abundant and beautifully prepared and presented. (If you're lucky, you might just get a taste of a most amazing chocolate chip cookie too!) :) We love to connect with others when we travel, and we really enjoyed our cozy evening conversations, and sharing of life experiences with Deb & Alan - as well as the other guests who were staying on the property. There are still truly *good* people in the world - And a couple of them welcome you warmly to their home in the UP! :)

I can't say enough positive things about staying with Debbie and Alan. They were so nice and welcoming! We loved chatting with them and getting to know them and learn about the home. They were lovely people who seemed to truly love meeting and hosting people at their home. As for the property, it is amazing!! The room and bathroom were super nice, clean, and had everything we needed. The outdoor patio is so nice, and the views out to the lake and the garden around the home are so peaceful and relaxing. Great views of the stars at night, as well! Debbie is an amazing cook, too! The breakfast she made us was fantastic and filled us up for our drive home. My only regret is that we were there for such a short amount of time; we hope to be back someday and stay for more than just one night!!
