Welcome to our apartment in Weitenhagen, a small community 7 km south of the university and Hanseatic city of Greifswald. Weitenhagen is first mentioned in 1280 in a deed of ownership of the Eldena Monastery. In 1626 Weitenhagen was handed over to the University of Greifswald. In the centuries that followed, agriculture and craftsmanship were the dominant industries. Attractions in the historic center are a small Protestant Cistercian church and the Friedrich - Wilhelm - Krummacher house. The wooded area is easy to explore by bike or on foot. The city center of Greifswald has a lot of culture and history to offer such. For example, the Pomeranian State Museum, the Dom Sankt Nikolei and St. Mary's Church, the historic marketplace, the Caspar David Friedrich House, the animal park, the museum harbor and the university. Here you can shop, dine in one of the many restaurants or visit the cinema Cinestar. The romantic fishing village of Wieck with the historic timber bridge and the harbor and the ruined monastery Eldena are other beautiful destinations. For swimming you can go to the beach Eldena (about 10 km), to the beaches in Ludwigsburg and Loissin (about 20km) or to Lubmin (about 25 km) drive. On cool days, visit the Freizeitbad in Greifswald. It is not far to the two largest German islands Usedom and Rügen and a trip is worthwhile. We look forward to you.
