  • Welcome to Westwood, a very private mountain getaway about a mile outside of Thomas, WV in the historic area of Coketon, WV. Perched a mile above the Blackwater Canyon, on two plus acres, it also borders the Western Pocahontas property, some 68,000 acres of Wild West Va. A very private location adds to the aesthetics all while being close to the Thomas town center. The 2 1/2 bedroom, 2 full bath house sleeps up to eight people and has a great deck overlooking the "Moors" as well as a front porch overlooking Snyder Run. Hiking, Biking, Cross country skiing are just a few of the activities available from one of the best locations in the area. The Blackwater Canyon Trail is at the bottom of the hill, go right to Douglas Falls and left 3/4 mile into Thomas. If you are a Mt. Top Hunting Club member, hunting ,fishing and ATV enthusiast have it all at your backdoor, with miles of trails right off the property.

Family fun

If you're looking for a very cozy and clean place to stay this is it. Very comfortable for six people and the location was amazing. Very much enjoyed our stay and looking forward to staying there again.

Perfect getaway

This space was the absolute perfect place for our family to get away to and unwind. The location is peaceful and easy to find - and so conveniently located to the shops in Thomas. Having a space that also thoughtfully considers what’s necessary to be “dog friendly” was another huge perk.We absolutely will be back!

Gorgeous location

Westwood property was located in a pristine corner close to the hiking trail which we caught to get to Douglas falls. The property was really clean, spacious, with a well stocked kitchen. It is so close to black water state falls park, Canaan valley resort . We are looking forward to coming back again.

Westwood beauty

Great property with access to all there is to see. Very private and has all the comforts of a home. Slice of heaven surrounded by national forest. Many thanks to the host for the opportunity to stay at the house.

Loved our stay

We took a somewhat spontaneous trip to this house. We've rented in the area many times, but we really loved how comfortable the house was and the location. We took our pups and really, really appreciate the house being dog friendly. We will be back soon. This is our new pick for our trips to this area.

West Virginia Mountains

We went to enjoy fall color in WV. Westwood is a beautiful home. Saw lots of deer and there were many spots around the house to sit and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. I would love to return to this wonderful place!

An Idyllic Retreat

This house is charming, well spaced and comfortable, with all the necessary amenities. If you look for peace and quiet- yet close to all main state parks trails and attractions - this is it. The nearby little towns of Thomas and Davis were a pleasant surprise with so many good cafes, restaurants, farmers market and gift shops. We had a wonderful time and recharged.

Thomas Trip

We enjoyed the property and the area very much. The cabin was really a house and very clean and well appointed. It overlooked a stream (presumably Snyder Run) and the area was pretty awesome. At the same time, if you wanted Thomas was only 5a short distance. It was a great get-away.

A Beautiful Getaway Spot in West Viry

We really enjoyed our stay at Westwood. The house is located on an exceptional piece of property. I have never seen such beautiful, fall foliage. And it’s a very easy walk to town along a rail trail path. Our dog enjoyed exploring the adjoining meadows and we enjoyed looking at the stars from the deck. Wonderful memories.

Awesome location. Close to town. Yet a nice country view. Place was very clean and on par with what we expected. The only issue is the steps and deck weren't shoveled. Other than that I would highly recommend staying here. A wonderful place!

Excellent secluded spot in hiking paradise

We loved our stay here. The house was exactly as advertised and perfectly quiet, despite being pretty close to the town of Thomas. Thomas itself is close to a bunch of fantastic hiking locations, including Douglas Falls, Blackwater Falls State Park, the Dolly Sods, Seneca Rocks and more. If you're into fishing, you're also close to some great trout waters. The night sky is pretty awesome in these parts, too. Highly recommend.

Lovely Stay

We stayed here for 2 nights and had a lovely stay. Rex was a pleasure to work with. We enjoyed playing games and CDs. We ate at the Mountain State Brewing Company and the Smokehouse at Blackwater Falls. Would recommend both. We were in the area to do the sled run but would have been content to relax at the house all weekend with the winter storm. It was beautiful.

Thomas Westwould

The property was outstanding. So beautiful. There was an apple tree which was a big hit with the Deer. A very cute town with some shopping and a few places for dinner. The house was old and needs some updates however very clean and well stocked.
