Next to the Whanganui river was nice and peaceful, the little twin share cabin was well appointed, I would stay again.
Would had like to be able to park next to the cabin for convenience.
Great Holiday Park. Top 10 Parks are the best holiday parks and this one does not disappoint. Great facilities. The kids loved the great pool, which was heated and very clean. Lots for the children to do. Really good family destination. Many different ways to stay in this Park. Water pressure in our unit was good, but shower head not quite so good, maybe time for a change of shower head. Bed was a bit hard and only a double, too small, a queen would be much better. Staff very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay, and will be back. In fact we tried to book for Easter, but they are full, which is a shame, but shows you how popular they are.
The hand basin is in a ridiculous position which contributes to slops on the floor as it is hard to get at. We felt that although the cabin was adequate it was overpriced. An awning over the deck could help with the relentless sun.
The park is in a lovely quiet residential area and self contained by the Wanganui River.
Unfortunately, although there is a fabulous hames room, someone had removed the white ball and a few coloured balls from the pool table, which is $2 per game.
Also the toilet in our deluxe cabin was so narrow it was easier to step out into the bathroom to pull your bottoms back up!
Our day began in the snowy shadow of Mt Ngauruhoe, with a 17km trek through Tongariro awaiting us. We had travelled thousands of miles across many oceans to New Zealand, for the opportunity to conquer Mt Doom. At 12:30 we were overjoyed to reach the summit, and returned cold and damp to our car, unaware that the real 'doom' was yet to come..
After a long and exhausting day we looked forward to relaxing in our 'Top 10' holiday park in Wanganui, and enjoying what delights the town had to offer. Oh, how naive and foolish we were.
At around 6:30pm we were approaching Wanganui, but still miles away from any other evidence of civilisation. At this moment, our accommodation appeared through the darkness. We had arrived.
After seeking out our room we concluded that not only was the car we had arrived in larger than the cabin we'd booked, but arguably felt warmer and better furnished.
Nevertheless you might expect that the cabin would have the bare essentials, such as a nice bed, warm duvet and a pillow on which to rest our weary heads. Yet again, our naivety got the better of us, as we discovered that we would have to pay an extra fee to hire the duvets. However, by the time we visited reception to relunctantly accept the duvet charge, we discovered that the reception area was quite firmly closed.
