Whitianga serves as the gateway to the Coromandel's most breathtaking beaches. Take a scenic drive to Kuaotunu, Matarangi, Whangapoua, or continue to the charming village of Coromandel Town, which boasts delightful shops and eateries. For a maritime adventure, head to the Whitianga wharf, where tour boats offer trips to Cathedral Cove. Here, you can snorkel in the marine reserve and marvel at Mercury Bay's stunning coastline. The passenger ferry also leaves from the wharf and will take you across to Ferry Landing, from where a short walk leads to Flaxmill Bay, with a couple of cafes en route. Alternatively, you could cycle to Cooks Beach for a different experience.
