Wigley Retreat

Wigley Retreat, at Wigley Flat in the beautiful Riverland, is your passport to secluded boutique accommodation & stylish country style hospitality.
It is the perfect environment to enjoy a special occasion or romantic escape all with the mighty Murray River right on your doorstep.
Just two and a half hours drive from Adelaide and halfway between Waikerie and Barmera, Wigley Retreat is and ideal base for your Riverland escape.
Enjoy a few languid days of regional discovery, relaxation, revitalisation and much much more.
Wigley Retreat is a one bedroom self hosting B & B featuring modern amenities in an original settlers cottage on the bank of the Mighty Murray River (one of the few remaining).
There is a second double bed (sofa bed) in the sitting room.
It is secluded and has its own private entrance.
Minimum two night stay.
Not suitable for children due to proximity to river and please do not bring dogs or pets.
You are welcome to bring a boat or kayaks as we have a private sand boat ramp.
The outdoor fire pit may be used from April to October (outside the fire ban period).
Relax by the river or explore the Riverland's great attractions, food, wine, bushwalking and much, much more.
Wigley Retreat is a 15 minute drive to Barmera or Waikerie and only 30 minutes from Berri.
There are supermarkets in both Waikerie and Barmera.
You are welcome to bring a kayak or boat to explore the waters.
Your perfect base for discovering the region.
We are currently renovating following the flooding and plan to reopen for our guests in July, really looking forward to welcoming return guests and new visitors to our special part of the Riverland.

Secluded river views

Our hosts were fantastic to deal with and the location was wonderful. If your looking for a quiet and nature inspired location this is it. Small but intimate.

Superb location in excellent cottage

This is truly a perfect getaway in an historic cottage, within a stone's throw to the river. It is a unique location, in a comfortable and renovated old cottage. Words that come to mind are beautiful, secluded, private, quiet. The hosts were excellent, with a real desire to make our stay a unique experience.

Wrigley flat holiday on the Murray

Had a great time whether you want to relax,explore,fish,kayak or just de-stress this is the place secluded but still . within easy reach of Adelaide. It was the thoughtfull touches like bacon and eggs,and wine left by the owners that made it such a good experience.

Beautiful old settlers cottage

Gorgeous old cottage which has been lovingly restored after 2023 floods. Situated on the bank of the River Murray, its perfect for kayaking or just enjoying the serenity. I love it and will go back!

Quiet, Comfort and enjoyable

We loved that the host left some local produce to welcome us. The blending of old style with some essential mod-cons was well done. We liked that the place was warm and inviting when we arrived. The spot is so peaceful and near Banrock Station and other Riverland attractions. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Wonderful break!

Just the short break we needed! In such a beautiful spot, nice and quite in amongst nature. Seen a kangaroo and heard and seen kookaburras up in the trees having a laugh. Very tranquil and enjoyed our stay. Thank you!

Ah the serenity

Beautiful little cottage on the river. Very peaceful location to relax with views of the river. Well stocked kitchen, great shower. Bed was a bit soft for our liking.

A cottage by a river had me sold the minute we saw the listing while searching for a place to celebrate 15yrs married. We got so much more than we expected. The closesness to water was magical. Stunning

What an amazing place to spend some time. The accomodation is beautiful and so much extra was provided, I know I can leave a bunch of things at home next time. The river in this area was very quiet, I don't know if that's normal but we saw maybe 5 fishing boats go past the entire weekend, no water skiers, or jet skis. This was the beginning of May so possibly not the season for it. Really very peaceful. Instructions were clear and everything was very easy to find and use. Truly a great experience. We will be back.

Amazing

Well where do I start. It was excellent in every way. Nice modern kitchen, sepeeat bedroom, large seperate bathroom, seperate lounge room. The host rang on check in day to say its ready and could come early. It was a very hot day, the host even had the aircon on before we arrived. There were some items for us like a bottle of wine, bread eggs and bacon.Do yourself a favour and stay here. Highly reccommend it.

What a beautiful, tranquil and idyllic setting, perfect for distressing and relaxing. So quiet, you will see no one your entire stay (we didn’t anyway).The cottage holds so much history and the river at the doorstep is so peaceful first thing in the morning, with only the native birds giving their awakening calls.If you’re looking for peace and harmony, and reconnecting with each other, this is your place to be.
