The location of this home is great! We had a quick drive to Traverse City and about 40 minutes to Sleeping Bear Dunes. Location wise-perfect.
Sally was great to work with. Quick to reply to my questions and gave us great suggestions for beaches and parks nearby.
The house itself was OK. The kitchen with the big island with seating was great for the kids. Overall though, this wasn't the most kid friendly house. The deck was missing a bunch of the railings. The railing that is there, the spindles are wide enough for our two year old to fit through (thankfully she didn't fall!)
In the house, the baby gates (provided at the house) don't secure to the wall at the top of either set of stairs. The spindles in the railings at the top of the stairs are about 6 inches apart, not up to code and definitely wide enough for a child to fit through!!
FYI, In the master bathroom, the hot and cold water are backwards. (Cold turns on hot etc.)
The air conditioning worked great in the master bedroom side of the house. Upstairs, the bedrooms stayed pretty warm. There are ceiling fans up there which helped a lot.
Outside the house- the pictures on VRBO must be pretty old. The house and landscaping appear to be a bit neglected. The weeds in the gardens are so overgrown they are practically trees. Normally this wouldn't be a problem with our stay inside, but on the one day it rained, we had to walk through the wet overgrown weeds and branches that line (and reach over) the sidewalk. The paint is peeling off all over the house. The railing from the round part of the deck was all ripped off. It just looks like it could use some attention.
This is a great house for adults, but not very kid friendly. There are baby gates provided but they don't attach to the walls properly. The board games provided which would've been great on our rainy day were missing some essential pieces to play.
FYI, there isn't a pack 'n play, booster, etc. provided. You'd have to bring your own.
We enjoyed the location! We had a great campfire outside at the campfire pit. And made some good memories up north. If you're traveling with kids under 5 though, you may want to look for somewhere else to stay.
