"The service at this hotel was excellent. The staff consistently did their best to accommodate guests’ needs. Even though the hotel was nearly fully booked, they still managed to move me to a room that I preferred, which I greatly appreciated.
The breakfast was also very good, and the staff were warm, attentive, and thoughtful throughout my stay.
I do have one suggestion regarding the signage on the first floor. Two guest rooms appear to share an entrance area with a public restroom, and the entrance to the entire area is marked with a large “Restroom” sign. This may unintentionally give guests staying in those rooms the impression that their rooms are located within the restroom area. For guests paying around $300 per night, the signage may detract from the overall sense of comfort, privacy, and value.
It may also cause other guests to assume that every door within that area leads to a public restroom. If a guest-room door were accidentally left unlocked, someone looking for the restroom could mistakenly enter the room, creating an uncomfortable situation and potentially disturbing the occupants.
I hope the hotel will consider changing the signage or redesigning the entrance area so that the guest rooms and the public restroom are more clearly distinguished."
"The room faced the ocean from across the street. Everything was fine but one unresolved issue…. There was an oder of unknown source that smelled like stinky feet. Not constant but would occasionally occure. The next morning, I was coughing really hard, like an allergy cough. 30 minutes after we drove away I recovered.
Oh btw.. my wife verified the smell was not ours…"
"What a nice surprise. My coworker and I had decided at the very last minute to stay in Cape Breton. There was very limited availability anywhere and, withour much research. we decided to stay here. This gem was a highlight of our whole trip. We really enjoyed the dinner experience. 7 courses of pure love! Lex and Hogle were most pleasant to talk to and are assets to this hotel. Our rooms were well equipped. The bed was comfortable, great showers and amenities. We loved having a Negroni on the porch. The food and service at both meals was top notch. Can't wait to return someday!"
"Such a tranquil & restful spot.
Currently a work in progress.
The access roads about the property need attention. The new geo-domes (permanent materials including glass) are amazing, they even include AC & constant hot water!
The water sports equipment was in good working order & very much appreciated.
A larger office welcoming guests which offered common camping foods & consumables etc would be very welcome & perhaps a nice little income stream - it wouldn't need to be open all day?
With time & further work this place is gonna be a solid 5 stars!"
"Well organized and well built cabin, about 75M off the highway, on a well maintained track, surrounded by a well maintained forest, with trails winding upwards beyond the appropriately spaced small group of cabins. So nice to arrive in the evening with the long winding ascent and descent over Cape Smokey left till the morning after breakfast."
