About this property
(1B) Heart of the Meadow at The Redwoods In Yosemite
Our" Heart of the Meadow" is a cozy 1-bedroom cabin with a rustic feel and beautiful outdoor living. Our 1/2 acre property has a large deck that is surrounded by a huge meadow, acres of National Forest, and a view of Wawona Dome! The cabin has one bedroom with a king-size bed, two futon sofa beds in an alcove, and one bathroom. There is a main living space as well as an additional hangout area where games and puzzles can be played. Meals can be made and enjoyed in the small kitchen with a gas stove, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, and a six-person dining table. There is also a gas BBQ available on the deck. We are located just 6 miles inside the South entrance of Yosemite National Park, near the historic Wawona Hotel, the 9-hole Wawona golf course, Mariposa Grove of Big Trees, Chilnualna Falls, and the Swinging Bridge. The river is only a 5-minute walk from the cabin with a summertime swimming hole and gorgeous views. You can take several hikes right from our front door. You can also choose to drive down to Yosemite Valley (about a 1-hour drive) for many more attractions, including Tunnel View, Yosemite Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, Yosemite Village, the Ahwahnee Hotel, and more. Other great driving destinations are Glacier Point and Badger Pass Ski Resort, which are both about a 45 to 60-minute drive from the cabin. About the Area
Nestled just 4 miles inside the southern entrance of Yosemite National Park is the charming and historic town of Wawona. Located at the base of Chilnualna Falls (the second-highest vertical-drop waterfall in Yosemite) and home to the principal trailheads into the southern Yosemite wilderness, Wawona is also the closest town to the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. Wawona has the feel of a small town but is bustling with activity! Over 160 residents, including Yosemite Park employees, live in Wawona and can be seen gathering at the town's community center, playing a pickup game of basketball at the elementary school, jogging on one of the many picturesque trails, or simply walking their dogs and baby strollers through the winding residential streets. The historic Wawona Swinging Bridge boasts the best natural water slide in the Park! The history village is filled with docents, stagecoach rides, horseback rides, and barn dances in the summer season, and the Wawona Meadow Loop offers year-round riparian meadow wildlife viewing. Wawona was known to the local Native American Miwok in their language as Pallachun (a good place to stay). It is located entirely within Yosemite National Park (it preceded the founding of the park as a national recreation area) and is located on the South Fork of the wild and scenic Merced River, on the main highway (State Route 41) from Fresno to Yosemite Valley. Galen Clark, who helped gain preservation legislation for Mariposa Grove and what later became part of Yosemite National Park, occupied the Wawona area in 1855 and established a tourist rest and modest ranch, which he later sold and made into a hotel and resort property (the Wawona Hotel). The Wawona post office was established in 1878 and was originally called Clark's Station. The Redwoods in Yosemite has over 120 vacation rental homes and is proud to say that all of them are located in Wawona. All are within walking distance of everything that Wawona has to offer, and every one of them is surrounded by the majesty of Yosemite National Park!

Great place to stay. Very near the Mariposa Grove of giant sequoias. Comfortable house in a quiet neighborhood with hiking options right outside the door.
We were excited to go to this cabin, our first,(but not last) stay at Yosemite NP.It was easy to check in and find our cabin, and the cabin was just perfect! Cute as it could be and very clean and comfortable. The deck surrounding the cabin is quite extensive and allows a very nice view of the expansive meadow. We certainly enjoyed our stay and won't hesitate to book this cabin again!
The Redwoods is always our go-to when staying in but not camping in Yosemite. We look forward to our next return. Despite a somewhat functional thermostat, we were comfortable with the dropping outdoor temps. The wood stove and a few space heaters supplied by friendly maintenance staff helped us stay cozy.
The location of this unit is wonderful. Unfortunately it seems that the care of the unit has not had much attention. It is very dated and very worn. The kitchen cabinets are metal and somewhat rusted and the drawers do not open very well. For the amount of money that you spend to stay here I would think these amenities should be in better working order. The furniture is worn and there is a smoky smell within the unit.
Great deck with a nice meadow next door. Good hike right outside the door.

Property is right next to an open meadow with a beautiful porch. Indoors is well decorated and comfortable. Bring your own shampoo and body wash for the shower though. The cabin is in a lovely community and is about an hour from Yosemite valley via car. There are some great trails and a historical museum about Wawona near the property as well.
We really enjoyed out stay. The reason I gave only 4 stars for cleanliness if because the carpet is stained. I guess that's what happens when you allow pets. (which we really appreciate) Everything else, kitchen, bathroom etc. are very clean and the bed is really comfortable.
The property is in a beautiful area and feels very authentic. We absoltuley loved hanging out on the deck and sitting next to the meadow - so peaceful. It is very clean, but the stains on the carpet make it feel dirty. The pull out sofa is TERRIBLE - I would highly reccomend this property for 2 people but not a family of 4.
Had a great time at this cabin. Its a really good spot as there is a giant field with all kinds of animals wandering nearby. There is a small store in the area and a slightly bigger store when you enter the area.
There was a really cool area down the road that went to the river. Had alot of fun exploring the area.
The house itself was good with only two minor exceptions. One was the heater was very squeaky but we are heavy sleepers. The other thing was that the listing said two beds but we only saw one. Im not sure if the two small futons were the second bed or not.
Other than that its a really great place to stay.

Don’t go there!
Spacious home for 2-4. Needs much needed attention. In dire need of complete overall cleaning, windows, blinds, floors etc. Light fixture in kitchen ready to fall of and hit someone on the head. Most furniture is old and very used. Shower needs modifications to prevent from serious falls. We turned heater on to 70 when we arrived, 14 hrs later it’s barely at 60, so we upped it to 90, 24 hrs later it’s barely past 60. We just layered our clothing to make it more comfortable. It felt more like staying in a Motel 6. Definetly not worth what we paid!! So disappointed!
The cottage was nice and easy to find. There was plenty of dishes and such. The house was clean, but there we're several big stains on the carpet, that made it seem like it wasn't clean. The mattresses were not very comfortable. My 10 yr old slept on the pull out couch and it was absolutely awful. We put the couch cushions under the mattress for her to sleep on because it was completely broke out in the middle. It really needs to be replaced. The house could really use a fan as well for the main area. There was one in the closet, but it was broken. Overall it was a good stay, but simple improvements could be made to make it great.
We enjoyed our stay and found the location to be perfect; better than staying in Yosemite Valley. Very close to the Giant Sequoias! The cottage has most everything you would need. Very peaceful and close to the Wawona swinging bridge.... A short 20 min hike. You can hear the peaceful sound of the South Fork Merced River from the huge deck. As an aside, we accidentally left behind a bag/computer and the housekeeping team was extremely helpful in helping us get it back! Very impressed!!
Very sweet, old-fashioned cabin. Everything we needed. Very well maintained. It’s a spring-fall cabin so pretty cold in the winter. But lots of wood for the fireplace so that made it comfortable. Well kept and appointed.
It was our first experience in a cabin, everything was fine except two things carpet was really duty, and second I don't understand if we paid for someone to clean it why they ask us to leave everything tidy, it doesn't make sense, but overall experience was a nice one.

The cabin was cozy and comfortable. It had everything we needed for 4 nights with an active small child.
Everything about this stay was very enjoyable! The location was perfect, close to beautiful trails and a lot of privacy. Yosemite park and the surrounding area is one of my now favorite places to visit now. The house was very comfortable, clean, well equipped, and a perfect size! Thank you for a very relaxing and a lovely vacation.
As well as being a reasonable driving distance to Yosemite, Heart of the Meadow has nice hiking options accessible right from the front door. It was very fun and relaxing to stay here, and we made some memories that will last a lifetime!
We enjoyed our visit to Yosemite. The cabin kitchen was a bit cramped, but well furnished. The sofa bed is NOT at all comfortable! The queen bed in the bedroom is nice. Office and maintenance staff were friendly and helpful.
