About the Area
Nestled just 4 miles inside the southern entrance of Yosemite National Park is the charming and historic town of Wawona. Located at the base of Chilnualna Falls (the second-highest vertical-drop waterfall in Yosemite), and home to the principal trailheads into the southern Yosemite wilderness, Wawona is also the closest town to the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. Wawona has the feel of a small town but is bustling with activity! Over 160 residents, including Yosemite Park employees, live in Wawona and can be seen gathering at the town's community center, playing a pickup game of basketball at the elementary school, jogging on one of the many picturesque trails, or simply walking their dogs and baby strollers through the winding residential streets. The historic Wawona Swinging Bridge boasts the best natural water slide in the Park! The history village is filled with docents, stagecoach rides, horseback rides, and barn dances in the summer season, and the Wawona Meadow Loop offers year-round riparian meadow wildlife viewing. Wawona was known to the local Native American Miwok in their language as Pallachun (a good place to stay). It is located entirely within Yosemite National Park (it preceded the founding of the park as a national recreation area), and is located on the South Fork of the wild and scenic Merced River, on the main highway (State Route 41) from Fresno to Yosemite Valley. Galen Clark, who helped gain preservation legislation for Mariposa Grove and what later became part of Yosemite National Park, occupied the Wawona area in 1855 and established a tourist rest and modest ranch, which he later sold and made into a hotel and resort property (the Wawona Hotel). The Wawona post office was established in 1878 and was originally called Clark's Station. The Redwoods in Yosemite has over 120 vacation rental homes and is proud to say that all of them are located in Wawona. All are within walking distance to everything that Wawona has to offer, and every one of them is surrounded by the majesty of Yosemite National Park!

We loved staying at the Redwoods Cabin. It was very comfortable with lots of space for hanging out together comfortably. Kitchen was well-equipped, deck was lovely, and we enjoyed the fireplace on the last cold nights of the season.

Location is great
The Redwoods is a great spot within the park; but they could improve by informing visitors exactly what is available within the community (store, creek for swimming, laundry services, etc.). House was nice and spacious, but in need of remodeling and outside furniture.
It was a nice property in a quite neighborhood and easily accessible from the south entrance of the park. We enjoyed the stay, especially the set up of living, fireplace and pool table.
I wish though that heating facility was more effective and door lock was better; it kept getting jammed and locked us out for long time in couple of occasions.

A little bit of love could go a long way
This is a great location and I like the cabin’s personality but it’s very old and not updated at all. Everything felt old (70s) and kinda gross. For what you pay I do think they could give you soap and possibly shampoo, plus update kitchen appliances including cups utensils etc. Also consider updating furniture every other decade or so. I’ve stayed in multiple places and we weren’t impressed by this one. It has wonderful potential though and a great location. Also if you do stay make sure you know how to get to the main lodge. That wasn’t included but is where you need to check in and there isn’t cell service in the area. Plus plan on a power outage or two - apparently it’s fairly common.
We got there after hours and our keys did NOT work for the house . We had trouble calling since we did not have cell service. We didn’t know the emergency phone could call the after hours person we thought it was just for 911. The property was good but it didn’t have a washer or dryer. Luckily it had an air conditioning unit.

peaceful house in good location
We stayed 3 nights with our family of 4 and friends, also a family of 4 (two 12 year olds + two 10 year olds). This house is spacious and comfortable, and the outside deck is fantastic. The area is quiet and it's right in Yosemite National park, although it's a good 45 minute drive from the Village. The only reason I am not giving this 5 stars is because the house is quite dated, which you can see from the photos. But it's perfectly functional and the beds are very comfortable.

Best Sleep of my Life!
We spent Christmas week in Yosemite which was magical. Beautiful drives thru the granite lined canyon, no crowds, and a comfortable cabin with a cozy fire each night. Had brunch at the Ahwahnee Hotel and a delicious Christmas dinner at The Wawona. I've never slept in such total silence and the perfect temperature for deep, peaceful slumber.
