About this property
Pipes Canyon Lookout · Hot Tub, Cowboy Tub, Views
Summary:
Carry a drink up the hill to the two lookout benches at Pipes Canyon Lookout and watch the light go down over the canyon and its Joshua trees. Back at the house, sink into the six-person hot tub or the seasonal cowboy tub (closed November through March), then grill and gather around the propane fire pit. The renovated three-bedroom home sits on five private hilltop acres in Pipes Canyon. Clear skies, long looks.
The Space:
Pipes Canyon Lookout is a recently renovated home on a private five-acre hilltop, looking out over Pipes Canyon and its Joshua trees. The living room, dining room and kitchen flow together, with black leather sofas, a blue hexagonal tile backsplash and sliding glass doors to the patio. Outside are a hot tub, a cowboy tub, a propane fire pit ringed with Adirondack chairs, outdoor dining for six and two lookout benches a short hike up the hill. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms suit families and small groups of up to six.

-Outdoor Amenities-
Mornings start on the patio, coffee in hand, on the white outdoor sofas with the canyon stretched out in front of you. By afternoon there is time for horseshoes, giant Jenga and cornhole, and in the warmer months the 8-foot cowboy tub is ready for a cool soak beside the loungers (it is not an in-ground pool and is closed November through March).
When the sun starts to drop, follow the path up the hill to the two lookout benches and take in the canyon as the sky changes. Head back down to grill on the propane BBQ and eat at the patio table for six beneath the shade tree. Later, pull an Adirondack chair up to the propane fire pit, then end the night in the six-person hot tub under a sky that stays clear and dark out here.
-Living Area-
Settle into the black leather sofas, put on a show on the 80-inch Samsung smart TV with Roku, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, or pull a game from the stack of board games and books. A Bluetooth speaker is on hand for an easy playlist. The living room, dining room and kitchen are open to each other, so whoever is cooking stays part of the evening.
-Kitchen and Dining-
Brew a pot on the drip coffee machine, with coffee, sugar, creamer and a variety of teas provided, and pull up a wood stool at the island. The fully stocked kitchen, finished in blue hexagonal tile, has a gas stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, blender and kettle, plus spices, olive oil, utensils and cookware. Serve dinner at the dining table steps from the living room, or carry it out to the patio and keep the canyon in view.
-Bedrooms and Bathrooms-
Pipes Canyon Lookout has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. One bedroom has a wood bed and sliding doors to the outside, and another pairs a metal-frame bed with bright red pillows and windows onto the Joshua trees. In the bathrooms, find a vessel sink beneath a round mirror and a marble shower in one, and a double vanity in the other, so mornings move quickly. A stacked washer and dryer are available.
-Surrounding Area-
Pipes Canyon Lookout is close to La Copine and Giant Rock Meeting Room in Flamingo Heights and an easy drive from Pioneertown, an Old West-style town with shops, restaurants and live music. Joshua Tree National Park's West Entrance, for hiking and rock climbing, is within reach, and the lookout benches will be waiting when you get back.
