The only recommendation (albeit very minor) I would have for the hotel is to offer some meal options that are a little more healthy/simple. But other than that, we absolutely loved our stay. "

"Stayed 2 nights in the historic room located in the Lowen Haus that is stunning! Felt like I was in an Architecture Digest video. Service was excellent and so was dinner at the a la carte restaurant; I may even say I had the best meals by far during my 1 week in Switzerland. While the surrounding area is relatively quiet, location of the hotel is just a short walk from Gonten station which takes you to Appenzell town within 15 minutes. "Loved walking around and shopping in charming, old Swiss Appenzell as well as the variety of restaurants. Our room was comfortable and the owner and employees’ attention to details made it special, like a terrarium in the bathroom, good breakfast included, limited parking in their lot, and a large selection of tv channels. "

"Our stay was wonderful. The room was clean and spacious. The sister hotel, Hotel Romantik Santis, was also excellent. The sauna is located offsite (not at Hecht) but was easy to reserve. Also, I highly recommend the restaurant at Santis. The food, wine menu, and service were outstanding."
