The resort is perfect for families (18 year old boy and 15 year old girl) wanting to get away from a traditional hotel vacation. Marea apartments are spacious, clean and perfectly located on a beach that stretches for miles. Walk the beach and see Dolphins near the shore and whales breeching in deeper water. You can often be on the beach with no one in sight in either direction. The surf is very rough and we were not allowed to venture out beyond knee high for saftey (rip currents). Hiring a car is a must atying at Marea and the town is only 20 minutes away with a great beach (Playa La Ropa) and fabulous food. Retaurant on property has a limited menu, food is good, but dining is outside and the bugs bite! All in all, a very enjoyable vacation, relaxing with daily trips to the town. Will visit again. Staff are very friendly.

We very much enjoyed our stay, and the concierge and staff were very helpful. They do, however, need to better explain the free breakfast and we were unable to get any hot water in the shower over our two-day stay. Also, the cleaning staff did not clean glasses or replace coffee, which seems like a possible training issue. However, the beach was wonderful, the pools great, restaurant very convenient and helpful and grounds were fun. A good, enjoyable stay all-in-all.

Exactly what we wanted- a relaxing and tranquil vacation. We came in off season, and practically had the place to ourselves. So nice to be on a beach with few others. The bkfst and lunch were good. Dinner choices were just OK. The staff, both front desk and dining area were amazing.

Staff and service was exceptional. I’ve stayed at 5 star properties from Monaco to Maui, and those properties were luxurious to the extreme, the service and staff at Marea were ‘above and beyond’. The villas are modern, each one has its individual pool, the kitchens are equipped for you to cook any type of dish, but we only made coffee, as the restaurant was a nice short walk from ours and again, both the food and service folks were absolutely fantastic and friendly as you’d hope for. The young lady managing it while we were there and her wait staff were super and accommodating. Even during a storm that popped up and knocked out electricity for a few hours, they kept our dinner reservation intact by using their outdoor ovens and grills! But the entire time was restful and rejuvenating. The beach in this area is relatively secluded and it was so nice to take morning and evening walks without stumbling over others. They have a nice gym with a rooftop area for you ha stretching if that’s on your list of things to do. My partner is a Thai bodywork specialist and was particularly impressed with doing our stretches on that rooftop, with sounds from the ocean as a backdrop. The property was developed by folks from Arizona with an emphasis on healthy, stress-reducing environment…and it shows, from the architectural design of the villas and property amenities. If you want a restful, relaxing and pleasant vacation, go there. We are planning a return visit soon!

I loved the Villa. I didn’t like that there was no hot water for showers. And the restaurants food was just OK. My husband got sick with Diarrhea after eating chicken nuggets and french fries. Thankfully, a manager lady and the beverage guy at the restaurant helped with suggestions and gave me white rice and chamomile tea for my husband. I never got sick because I ate something else. But the food was never that tasty or good. We ate there because it was convenient. Too nervous to try too many outside choices after husband got sick on 3rd day of 7 day trip. Disappointing.

We have been traveling to the area for the past 20 plus years and have never enjoyed our stay more. The Marea is such a gorgeous property sitting on a beautiful 10 mile long beach, it can’t be beat for a quiet peaceful vacation. The staff is amazing, everyone we came in contact with was so friendly and nice, they do a wonderful job making you feel welcome and are so helpful. Andrea was a joy to meet and so very nice, the bartender in the evening was friendly and made the best spicy margaritas, all the wait staff always went above and beyond, and the front desk staff always friendly and eager to offer help. We are already planning our return trip with family next year. The Marea is a great couples vacation or a great family destination, don’t think twice go and book it!!!

This property was amazing we wanted to get away and relax and that’s exactly what we did. The restaurant was so good, all the staff were super accommodating and friendly. The only thing I would say is that it is far from anything and we weren’t really informed of any activities that were offered outside of the property

we stayed in a villa on the first floor right next to the beach.The suite was very well done and comfortable, with a fully equipped kitchen (which we did not use). The plunge pool right there was great for cooling off after a walk on the beach. The breakfast menu is complete and very well done and the dining room staff is friendly and competent as could be. Our only dissatisfaction was the front desk staff whom we found to be pretty much not interested in helping. Overall, it is a great spot on a wonderful beach.

Amazing location. Great staff. We had to move our first room due to a sewage smell. Seems like they are working on adding more sewer plants. The staff was super attentive and friendly. The beach is long and wonderful but you can’t really swim as the rip currents are strong. All-in-all would go again, it’s a good deal!

A villa at ground level allowed for easy access to the beach. Having our own dip pool was perfect. All team members were so lovely and accommodating. We were looking forward to the walking trails/ swing bridge yet they were not available. I so loved and was thankful for the gym and yoga space on the roof. Perfect. Not quite a premium experience
When we arrived, we were very impressed with the property and the setting. We stayed a week and we started a mental list of things that they could do to make it a truely premium experience to match the premium price: 1. They need a shuttle bus. There was no pickup person waiting at the airport so we had to find our own way. Airport pickup would be a nice first impression. Also, the property is about a 15 minute drive outside of Zihuantanejo so a regular/ hourly shuttle would be great. Instead, guests must take a taxi each way and the costs are substantial. 2. They need a generator. Not their fault, but we had a hurricane come by the property and the power got knocked out. 48 hours later it was still out. No power, no AC, no charge for devices. A generator would be a good amenity. 3. Our unit - a penthouse - didn't have hot water. Even if it is hot outside, nothing beats a nice hot shower. Install water heaters please. 4. There is no laundry in the units and no laundry on site. There isn't even a laundry service on site. They told us we had to go into town to clean our clothes. Disappointing. 5. They don't have any sort of on-site store. It would be nice to be able to buy a diet coke, candy bar, toothpaste, etc... Instead you have to go into town. See item 1 above. 6. Small item - the bar doesn't have bar stools (at least not when we were there) and the pool was closed. I enjoy socializing on vacation and it seemed like that wasn't really possible. For us it was just meh.

Miles of private beach , each villa has its own plunge pool,kitchen if you choose to cook or go,the restaurant Ola which is great. The staff is excellent very helpful and wanted to make sure you were happy with the services. Ola restaurant is excellent. The food is better on the property compared to the local restaurants. The property is quite and peaceful. Property electrical went out the first night and went out several times during my stay. There is no back up electrical system. Be ready to pay high resort fees. Marea beach villas is not a resort by no means and they will nickel and dime you for everything. If you decide to stay you will see and feel what I mean. The water is salty in the room. they do not have fresh water. They will tell you that when you arrive not to drink the water. They do provide drinking water in 5 gallon containers and will refill when needed.

Wonderful stay but....
No silver awards provided by hotel. Hotel allows dogs and the room next to me had two. They would bark when the owners were gone which made relaxing at times difficult. Over all the property was great and food was delicious.

Service was incredible. Food at the club house was really good and quite reasonable. The chef came out to talk to us to make requests. Good for families as have full kitchens, but is quite far from town so definitely recommend a car if you plan on going to town to shop or hang out. Area is nice in that its isolated, but is very isolated.

Just perfect! Accommodations very clean and spacious with beautiful view of the beach! Service is spectacular! The beach is beautiful, clean and almost empty for us. We went to the supermarket to get food but ended having brunch at the villa and dinner at their restaurant as the food was very good. Next time I need to get away from my busy life Marea is the place to come

The property, villas, pools, and grounds were beautiful, clean, and well maintained. The staff was accommodating and friendly. Personally, we did not like how secluded it was, as it really does limit your overall experience. And although the hotel restaurant is a novel concept, it does unfortunately has a very limited menu, and it is a bit pricey, so if you are a picky eater or have kids under the age of 15, then you will definitely have some difficulties with food choices. As stated, the area is very secluded, so if you want to go anywhere to shop, buy groceries, go to a swimmable beach, or do any sort of immersive tourist things in a foreign country, then I probably would not recommend this establishment. We used a trusted taxi driver, contacted through the hotel, who charged us $700 pesos daily (roughly $35USD) for round-trip to Zihuatanejo (about 20 minutes away) as well as to run errands like grocery shopping and 1-2 other stops in town). Although it is quite beautiful, it is more for people who want a secluded vacation in a tropical place, without any real exposure to the local culture or cuisine. Mexico is a beautiful county, rich in culture, but it is very sad to see how hard it is for the people there to get by - especially with the need for fully outfitted Mexican Marines patrolling the streets in order to deter all of the crime there, especially against foreign tourists. It was jarring at times, even for us, and we are from a rougher part of SoCal.

We are happy to learn how much you loved the villas, pools and the overall property. We take pride in the level of service provided by our staff. Marea is indeed on a somewhat secluded location that offers privacy and the opportunity for our guests to relax, reconnect and enjoy nature. The ride to Zihuatanejo is 15-20 minutes as you mentioned. Anyone wanting to explore town can still do it anytime and then get back to a place where they can decompress again. We hope you make it back sometime

The Propery was beautiful as well as the villa. However, the bedroom facing the beach had openings on door which allowed mosquitoes, lizards and moths to enter bedroom. We couldn’t use that bedroom. Door need to be sealed!!

Loved our time here
This place is great! The villa was beautiful and clean.. right on the sand.. the staff was super nice and helpful when needed... the ocean was to crazy to get in the water but the pool was right there... the restaurant was great... we just wanted to relax for a few days and we got just that... total relaxation
