Trans Pennine Trail Kid friendly Holidays

On arrival we were allocated a room 526 on fifth floor however on checking room felt it was rather tired also some water ingress on windowsill where rain water had blown through. On request we changed room and allocated room 431 on floor below. Upon entering room there was a very strong smell of bleach from bathroom and similarly to last bedroom fixtures and fittings look tired and worn. Obviously attention needed to bring rooms up to acceptable standard. Worst of all we noticed remnants of human poo on the carpet at bottom of bed. So disgusted we demanded to check out immediately and had to deal with Expedia also hotel reception of which Sophie was very efficient and helpful. Sophie was very understanding and she appreciated having realised how disappointed we were overall having so looked forward to another stay at hotel our first since 2010.

The property is superb and the place was spotless surrounded by beautiful countryside. The only issue was the breakfast, obviously there were no staff to serve at breakfast so it was a bit every man for himself, the food and drink is all laid out the night before so first up is best dressed. By the time we got down, 9.00 am there was no fruit or yoghurt left and a tiny bit of butter to go with the stale bread and pastries. I think a lot of people are basically pigs at a buffet and very rarely think of other people. Couldn’t fault the hotel but maybe a different way of serving up breakfast.

Very centrally located for exploring Manchester. Clean and spacious room. Staff at the front desk very helpful
