"Handy for location, very clean and staff very friendly "

"Good stay, rooms spacious and clean. Stay at breakfast let the score down, as we’d not pre-booked we felt to be an inconvenience to the staff team and asked to stand back while other guest were dealt with. After waiting, having a credit machine thrust at us we were then ‘permitted’ to sit at the table we were standing beside, it spoiled an otherwise great experience. Other staff, the room, swimming pool were great."

"The rooms are spacious and modern. The bed is comfortable and I think this hotel must have been refurbished very recently. WIFI is good ….. and free and breakfast was good value with a good varied menu of hot and cold buffet foods. Victoria was a credit to the hotel and was chatty, friendly and bubbly yet proffessional and gave some excellent recommendations."

"We had a great first visit to Ballater and the hotel did not disappoint. Our room was very clean and tidy. The reception staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The food was very tasty and the waiting staff very courteous and friendly. Overall we had a wonderful time and would definitely go back. "

"Beautiful place. We loved the fact that it's 799 years old, thinking about all the people that have come and gone before us enjoying the same space. Pretty grounds right on the river Dee. Old cemetery and remains of a chapel right behind for exploring. Natural beauty all around. Staff was welcoming and helpful. We stayed in a suite and everything met our expectations. Will definitely stay again. Also love that they have a vegan menu in their restaurant! 🌱💚"

"On arrival I had a problem with my room door, after waiting in the bar for around 30 mins the very helpful young lady off reception came and offered me a free room upgrade which turned out to be very nice. Breakfast was expensive and very average, bathroom in my room was superb the rest of the hotel was a little musky smelling and in need or some work everywhere except the dinning area and the bathroom, my friends room near reception was very musky smelling and was over £100, stunning gardens...

"The hotel is nice and reasonably well maintained. I found the decor a bit dated for my taste. I ate dinner one night and it was very nice. Breakfast was decent. All the hotel staff were excellent."

"We have stayed here many times over the years. The remote old world atmosphere is quiet and relaxing. There is a lovely view and the grounds are well kept. The staff couldn’t be more helpful and friendly, the food is excellent. Highly recommended if you need to get away from it all. "

"We stayed for 1 night in a twin room which was great for us. Beds were lovely and comfy plenty of pillows and blankets if needed. Tea and coffee was good in the room with hot chocolate and shortbread yum yum lol . Shower was great plenty of room to hang up clothes in wardrobe. Breakfast was amazing I had smoked haddock and poached eggs which were amazing. Filtered coffee plus apple juice also plenty of other options for breakfast and continental. Staff were all amazing and very helpful will...

"We lived this real farm in the country! Fields of canola seed and daffodils made for beautiful photos. Even cows! Great breakfast and friendly hosts! Short drive to Dunnator castle. Delicious breakfast."
