Beach Hotels in Costa Rica

"The property is large and about 50 minutes from the airport in the middle of nowhere. The food options are great!! Reservations are not required for the restaurants but you have to get there at least 15 minutes before they open if you want to get a table. The selection of food at the buffet and the different restaurant are excellent. The people and service are are also excellent. The only con to this property is the beach. It is not very clean and we witnessed one of the souvenir vendors deal...

"We loved the privacy and seclusion of the property. The front desk and restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant menu was fine for about 2 nights, but if one stayed longer, it was limited. Some of the lounge chairs were looking a bit worn. We would have liked the pool to be accessible for evening swimming. The pool area was completely dark by 7 pm. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Sugar Beach Hotel."

The rooms are so incredibly lovely, the howler monkeys surrounding the property are a delight but above all the staff is the best! Especially in the restaurant and bars - they are so incredibly welcoming and nice! Andres the bartender is a true mixologist (you have to try his mezcal cocktails)! "Decent hotel, 10 minute walk away from the hustle and bustle of Jacoʻ beach. It is an older property, but clean and well maintained. The complimentary breakfast was delicious, made to order and not the usual dull buffet style. The staff were friendly and accommodating. My only dissatisfactions were the absence of a lounge to relax after a day out, and the lack of blackout curtains. The blinds provided do not stop the morning sun from blaring into the room."
