The House: This beautiful bothy style cottage is located on the shores of Cleggan Bay, close to the fantastic Aughrus Peninsula. The house has uninterrupted views across Cleggan bay over to Cleggan Head and a clear evening guarantees a spectacular sunset. Just a short walk from the village, you can take a trip out to Inishbofin for the day or enjoy a pint and crab salad in Olivers while watching the local fishermen unloading their catch.

There are numerous beaches just a short drive away including the famous Anchor beach and of course the stunning expanse of Omey beach and island. The Bothy is just 15mins from Clifden town with its numerous shops, restaurants, and bars. The Connemara National Park and Kylemore abbey are just 15mins in the other direction. This is a great location is you are planning to go exploring the hills, catch some fish or just enjoy quiet village life. There is also pony trekking centre in the village, about a 2 min walk from the bothy.

Inside: This recently renovated cosy space has everything that you could need to help you enjoy your stay. You walk straight into a comfy Kitchen/ Living with a fully equipped kitchen, new comfy sofa and lovely views across the sea. The bathroom has a new power shower, sink and toilet. The bathroom is to the front and there is a double bedroom.

Lovely and comfy

The Bothy is very comfy and the view from the kitchen window over Cleggan Bay is spectacular. Easy drives to Clifden, Omey Island, Claddaghduff and Westport. Was there during Arts Week and it was just perfect for this event. Will definitely recommend The Bothy to friends.

Great place to stay

We booked The Bothy for a week. The Bothy is a great place to stay. Although compact it had everything, modern appliances, comfort, great bathroom, fabulous views. It was spotlessly clean and comforably warm. The location was excellent, a short walk to the village of Cleggan, a short drive to the beaches and situated on the road to Clifden.

Cosy cottage close to the village

We had a comfortable stay at The Bothy. New renovation so everything was as new . Good facilities comfortable bed and walking distance into the local village. Will definitely book again if we are up this way again . Thank you Christina

A winter break

Location wise, excellent. A few minutes walk to the village of cleggan. The bothy is cosy & warm - with all the modern amenities. Fabulous setting & beautiful views. Really enjoyed our Christmas break there. Would definitely return again. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A wonderful cottage...

The Bothy is a marvel, beautiful inside and out, Everything you could want is provided and more, its extremely comfortable and meticulously decorated, its a credit to Pete and Christina the owners who have a place close by, they are a really lovely couple who couldent be more friendly and helpful, I will certainly be back again, and it will be my go to place whenever I am in Connemara in the future...

Cosy and Comfortable

This place suited us beautifully. We only made breakfast but facilities were good for a full cooking experience. Just right for a couple and well designed to make best use of the space. A short walk to delightful pub/restaurant and local shop. We needed nothing more. Sunshine was an unexpected bonus

Perfect stay in a perfect location

"The Bothy" is a new build and constructed to a high spec. All furnishings, appliances and utensils are modern and it is cosy and comfortable. There is a pre-set program on the hot water and because of the good insulation there is no need to fiddle with anything. The views from the Bothy are perfect and because we picked the ideal week, weather wise, we had beautiful sunsets every night watching the sun go down behind Inish Boffin. Cleggan village is a short walk and high-viz jackets, if required, are provided. We happened to forget our beach towels this year but there happened to be two provided which we were greatful for. It really was a comfortable, relaxing stay and the owners are friendly and easy to deal with. This was our second year in a row at the bothy and won't be the last.

Wir waren im september 2024 für eine woche im wunderschönen Bothy Cleggan. Das haus entspricht zu 100% der Beschreibung im internet. Es hat uns fantastisch gefallen. Es ist alles vorhanden was man für einen Aufenthalt benötigt und eine fantastische Sicht auf das Meer u den Hafen.Die Einrichtung ist neu, hochwertig und liebevoll zusammengestellt. Sehenswürdigkeiten liegen in guter Erreichbarkeit.Christine u Pete sind sehr liebenswürdige Gastgeber, die umgehend alle unsere Fragen beantwortet und uns tolle Insidertips gegeben haben.

The Bothy at Cleggan

Beautiful area, lovely cottage, everything very clean and comfortable. Fantastic shower in bathroom. In a great position close to the Inishboffin ferry and easy to get to other areas such Connemara National Park, and Westport in Co.Mayo. Would definitely stay again but for longer .

A short stay at The Bothey

What a delightful setting. Looking out of the window was the wonderful view of Cleggan Bay. The place itself was very well appointed with everything you could want: kitchen equipment, advice on local walks etc. a comfortable bed, powerful shower and all very warm and snug. My only request would be a tea strainer for those of us who can't abide tea bags!! Oh, and the weather was typically Irish: rain and grey skies but on the days when it was clear the views very spectacular. I'll be back.

Our Irish holiday

Everything we required was in the cottage. The sofa was not particularly comfortable but the bed was extremely cozy. My wife found the container for holding shower items ie shampoo etc was too high to reach. Generally a good experience.

Modern and comfortable

I enjoyed the stay at the Bothy very much. It would have been easier if I had a car, because Cleggan is quite remote and there are only 3 busses a day. If you have a car it's an excellent starting point to hike and enjoy the magical scenery.

We highly recommend the Bothy!

The hosts are very friendly and welcoming, the cottage is clean, cozy, fully outfitted, and decorated with a personal touch, there is a beautiful view, it is a great location for exploring the region, and it is walking distance to a cool village with amazing seafood and live music.

Great stay in a great location

Perfect property for two and situated within walking distance of Cleggan Village.It's a new property so everything is new and modern. Tastefully furnished. Very good/modern plumbing system so hot water always available. Property is situated far enough away from the main house and you have privacy. There is a nice raised area to sit out in which we did on the sunny evenings to watch the sun go down. Great views of the harbour, the bay and surrounding area from the windows which all add to the experience. Will definitely stay again.
