A (hidden) Art Nouveau gem. In 1841 the Ursuline nuns started a school for young girls (from rich families) in Onze-Lieve-Vrouw-Waver. Pretty soon after its establishment, the Ursuline Institute gained international fame. Around the turn of the century almost a quarter of the students in this renowned boarding school were of foreign origin. In 1900 the institute built a beautiful winter garden in Art Nouveau. The architect is (still) unknown. "Didn't see any staff, but were in the office if you needed them. Checkin & out are automated & very quick. Room & shower were excellent size & comfortable, with working air con. Good communal facilities. Only weakness was the choice of floor covering: a black type of matting, this shows remnants of cream & must make cleaning difficult (I should have asked them to clean). Fortunately I had my slippers so left it as on arrival, otherwise the hotel was clean, modern & spotless"
