Villa Balam Ek, Beautiful Oceanfront home on the Caribbean Sea!

Balam Ek: is an ocean-front, private home located ½ Mile from central Akumal. This beautiful house is designed to take advantage of the Caribbean breeze and the view to the ocean from every room in the house. There are simple and elegant Mexican decorations in every detail of this villa.

The patio leads out to the Ocean and snorkeling access into Half Moon Bay. The beautiful small round pool is on a large wooden deck where the panoramic view invites you to relax with the drink of your predilection in reclining chairs.

On the upper floor are the master bedroom with a king-size bed, a large dresser closet, and a full bathroom. There is a balcony in the master bedroom with a panoramic view of the Caribbean. There is also a small bedroom with a single bed and a private balcony next to the Master bedroom.


The second bedroom upstairs has two queen size beds and one single bed; also, this bedroom has a full bathroom and a large window with a spectacular ocean view.

Downstairs is the third bedroom with a king-size bed; it has a large sliding glass door that leads out to a private terrace surrounded by plants and a beautiful ocean view.

All the bedrooms in the main house have ceiling fans and air conditioning.

The living room downstairs has a spacious area, very comfortable and relaxing, with concrete embedded furniture, details in wood, and colorful Mexican-style cushions; There is a flat-screen TV with internet.

The dining room has a big wooden table with ten chairs which are upholstered in a colorful fabric.

The kitchen is decorated with Mexican-style beige, blue, and green colored Talavera tiles.

It's fully equipped including a refrigerator, stove with oven, microwave, toaster, blender, and coffeemaker; in the Pantry, you can find all the utensils, pots, pans, dishes, glasses, casserole dishes, baskets for bread and tortillas, a purified bottle of water, cooler, candles, lighter, etc.

On the large terrace in front of the ocean, you can find a Grill. If you wish you can have your meal prepared at home.

The house also has an attached two-story studio with delicate decoration, upstairs in the bedroom with a king-size bed, closet, full bathroom with a Jacuzzi, and a large balcony with hammocks and chairs to enjoy the great view of the coconut trees and the turquoise water of the Caribbean sea. Downstairs is the living and dining area with a complete kitchen, stove, refrigerator, all the utensils. There is also a terrace with chairs and reclining chairs. This is perfect for a couple.

Fantastic Stay

Ingrid was the most responsive host, lots of information, recommendations which set the stage for a great week with friends. House was well appointed, clean with warm breezes and ocean views. Easy access to bay beach and restaurants. Highly recommend!

It was everything we were hoping it would be

The location is ideal for Akumal, as you can walk to everything. The layout of the house is ideal, as each room has its own bathroom and great common areas. Oh the view! Ingrid is awesome to work with too. The house is well stocked with most things one could need.

Girls Trip

This house is amazing! It is so clean and is in a great location. Felt very safe in the house and walking around. Went for a week with my girlfriends and we had plenty of space. The host was very responsive and helped us plan a couple of excursions and secure a golf cart (highly recommend getting one for your stay, but do it in advance). Beach access is rocky, but the sandy beach is just a few minutes away. Recommend bring water shoes and snorkeling gear. The water is very calm. The view is breathtaking! Slept like a baby with the windows open and the sound of the waves. Had them come in and cook for us one night, food was great. Plenty of leftovers. There is also a restaurant just a short walk from the house. Thank you to the host and staff for making our stay so relaxing and fun.

From the moment you walk up the front walk through the beautiful garden you've arrived in your own piece of paradise. Check in was seamless, the unit is spacious and homy. Every detail is perfect. Live plants, fresh flowers, artwork on the walls... One of the best equipped units I've ever rented. No need to bring anything except your swimsuits. We snorkeled right out the front, you will need water shoes to get over the rocks, but once you're in water there's a large area to snorkel. We saw fish, rays, squid, even a great surprise, a seahorse! The staff was so friendly and kept everything perfect inside and out. They thought of everything. Filtered water was in the pantry and even small dispensers in the bathrooms, what a great touch. There were basic staples in pantry, salt pepper, olive oil, spices...our family of ten had plenty of dishes, glasses, and every pot or pan you could possibly need to cook with. The location is also perfect. Right out the front door you can walk on the street to restaurants and shopping. Just a short walk to the Lol Ha beach club where you can rent beach chairs and palapas. (their food isn't great) we got drinks and guacamole and chips to snack on. We walked down the beach a bit and were able to snorkel and see turtles, what a treat. I would not hesitate for a moment to rent this unit again.

Return to Akumal.

We were in Akumal 22 years ago and were delighted to return to this wonderful place on half Moon Bay. Snorkeling is great right out of the backyard, service is wonderful, traditional building construction is a delight to study. Highly recommend.

Great house, great location

We love Akumal and have stayed in many places over the years. This property and both Leticia and Samuel (housekeeper, gardener) were terrific. We did have part of the house with no hot water for 3.5 days, which was not ideal, but it did get sorted out eventually. All positive; getting in the water there is not easy. Also, the pool was lovely but there is NO WAY a person who does not have perfect mobility could enter or exit the pool safely. It was not an issue for us, but notable. Gorgeous view from all rooms. Beautiful garden.
