The house is not for everyone.
Good location.good kitchen/livingroom. Bedroom damp on arrival,still.damp on departure.stair cases were mentioned as being steep and narrow.until you have to use them you realise that they are very difficult to climb on all 3 levels.all outside balconies had flakey paintwork which could have been easily and cheaply done before our arrival.no handrail on the top staircase to the roof terrace a small folding table and chairs on the roof terracewould improve the area,you have nowhere to sit on the roof terrace only sunbeds.if you have any mobility problems i would not recomend this house.

Winter Get Away
Lovely little apartment in the heart of Olhao. Everything was in walking distance, lots of restaurants, shopping & very relaxing. Would definitely recommend.

Perfect house, great location
This upside down house is full of charm tucked right in the centre of Olhao with a 2 min walk to the waterfront, cafés, 2 markets and bars. 5 min walk to the ferry to go to the lovely Armona for a few euros. The house was spotlessly clean, lovely balcony and the kitchen was perfectly adequate to cook our fresh produce from the market. The owner of the property was great at keeping in touch, gave easy directions and how to use the key safe. We loved our stay here and would love to come here again.

The best nights sleep
Perfect location in the heart of restaurants, cafes and shops, just a few steps from the sea front. Excellent and thorough communication with vendor, supported by a manager. A few tips for cleaning: floor needs a good mop and once in a while a deep clean ie shower, all surfaces. Very dusty and sandy floor but very nice historic building.

Another great stay
This is our 4th time staying in this property. Very clean and suitable for 2 people to have a comfortable stay. Small patio on 2nd floor and a wondeful roof top terrace that gets the sun all day. Situated in a quite cobbled street only minutes away from the sea front and amazing restaurants. Less than 10 min stroll gets you to the train/bus station should you want to visit other towns and to the boat that can take you to a few islands. We will be back .

Convenient situation in Olhao
The house is easy to locate and access is straightforward although in a pedestrian only street. It is near lots of restaurants and the market, a supermarket is 5 min walk away, yet it is also quiet at night. Also near the ferries for visiting the islands. The property is old and charming though that brings its challenges (stairs and light)/airflow, fixtures and fittings could benefit from upgrading.

Sehr zentral und doch ruhig
Eine sehr charmante Location. Super zentral, 2 min zum Markt, 4 min zur Fähre. Alles war super, einzig die Sauberkeit nicht so. Wir mussten erst mal durchfegen und auf Kissenbezügen hatte es Haare. Ich nehme zum Glück immer eigene mit. Aber sonst wirklich alles super.

Lovely authentic property in a quiet back street a few steps from the centre of the town.
Great break away. Refreshing Aircon in bedroom. Lovely balcony and separate sun roof terrace. Home from home comfort. Central to ferry, restaurants, shops and train station. Delightful house full of charm.

Great week in this property
Property very clean ,local manager Ze very helpful ,friendly and efficient. Great location, handy for everything. A high scale street map is available for free at the Tourist Information Centre which is really helpful for exploring Olhao. Would definitely stay at this property again.

Well equipped and excellent location
We have been to Olhão before but stayed in a hotel. We wanted to make use of the wonderful produce in the markets and so decided to rent. Neil's house is brilliantly located just round the corner from the markets and so it was easy to shop for fresh food as and when required. We made full use of the cooking facilities including a great outside barbecue. The house is full of character with its traditional brick ceilings on the ground floor. A comfortable living and cooking area on the 1st and a spacious roof terrace. As it said in the description of the property the stairs are quite tight and steep but if you are careful and take your time they are no problem. The wifi was very good and there was plenty of hot water. There was a good selection of basic necessities either provided by Neil or left by previous tenants which was welcome as we didn't have to start shopping straight away. The only thing I would like to see improved is more and better space for hanging clothes. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would have no hesitation in renting the house again.

Instructions to find property very good. House very clean. Staircase very steep and narrow. 2nd handle rail on staircase coming away from the wall. Lounge/kitchen pleasant. Would have been good if the sofa had been a fold down bed. Thought that there might have been instant coffee, milk or even a bottle of wine to welcome us. So at 19:00 had to set out to find a supermarket - shame there were no instructions as to how to find the nearest one. Instructions as to how the washing machine/microwave/coffee machine worked would have been useful. TV was a waste of space-all we could get was the news from Paris. The balcony was fine when the Tapas bar next door was not being worked on which it normally was between 8am and 6pm. The stairs up to the roof terrace were not good - no handrails-even worse trying to come down. The bedroom was a fair size-shame the bed creaked everytime one of us turned over. Good shower -floor in shower slippery as was the bathroom floor. Area around the market good for food and people watching.The market on a saturday was brill. Trains and bus all worked well -trip to the Islands on the ferry was great.

Charming house close to the heart of Olhão
The house was great for us (as we are slim and able enough to manage the narrow stairs) and handy for restaurants and the station for trips to other towns. Good value for the price and the roof terraces will be great later in the year. Communication with Neil was quick and helpful and would recommend it as a base for exploring - we got the train to Tavira, Faro and Loule and it was cheap and easy.

Great location
Stayed for 8 nights in July 2017. Location of house is brilliant 2 streets back from Fish market and fruit/veg market. No through traffic so it was surprisingly quiet. Be prepared for noise from nearby bars and dogs however. Enjoyed staying in Olhão but it is a dirty wee town. The house is ideal for a couple. It's very private and the roof terrace is great for sunbathing. We were keen to self cater as we love cooking and we used the barbecue almost every night. However the kitchen equipment could do with upgrading. I had to wash all the utensils and cutlery prior to using for first time. A knife had been put back into knife block greasy and dirty. The utensils on the stand were ingrained with dirt and we didn't use them. There was a bottle of fairy liquid, a pan scourer/sponge and couple of jcloths but no other cleaning materials supplied. There was a general air of neglect about the house. It wouldn't take much money/effort to improve it. The bed was really uncomfortable and creaky and not conducive to a good nights sleep. The bedsheet was old and had holes in it. I've thrown out better sheets! The ensuite bath and shower room was spacious. Wifi was good. The stairs to sitting area on first floor are very steep and the risers were difficult to negotiate when you've got short legs! The very narrow stair is not suitable for a wide or unfit person! Finally the roof terrace was not enhanced by the grotty looking plastic chair. The sun loungers were fine. The owner provided good information. All in all we felt that the price was high for the quality of the accommodation.

Thank you for the review. Olhao has undergone significant improvements over the years and is generally (though of course it can not be guaranteed) a clean, bright, well kept town these days. The house has undergone a major redecoration. The kitchen utilities have been replaced, including a new microwave, coffee machine, kettle, and more. Thankfully, judging by recent reviews, these changes to both the house and to Olhao have been very well received. Neil.

Beautiful property in an excellent location
We stayed here last week and will definitely stay again. The cobbled streets are full of character and there are some amazing tapas bars in the narrow streets a short distance from the house. The ferries are a five minute walk and the islands are just beautiful. The sea is crystal clear and warm and the beaches were really not very busy when we were there. There is some good BBQ fish restaurants as well. The train station is close as well and very cheap. Ze, the house manager was brilliant and got us some wine, water and milk for our arrival as we got in quite late (but there were bars still open, so of course we had a little wonder 😊). Neil, the owner was really helpful and sent us an information pack before we arrived and answered all my questions. We got a taxie from the airport which cost about €24. All in all we had a wonderful time, the Portuguese are friendly and helpful and I would highly recommend it. Thank you 😊

Schöne Wohnung
Wir haben den Aufenthalt in der Ferienwohnung sehr genossen. Wir waren erfreut über die vorhandene Waschmaschine. Die Wohnung liegt sehr zentral und ließ uns am portugiesischen Leben teilhaben. An manchen Tagen und in manchen Nächten war es uns zu laut. Es war sehr schön einen Balkon zu haben für die Mahlzeiten und Sonne bis in die Abendstunden.

Nice location & interesting architecture

Neil fue muy agradable y nos ayudó mucho. La limpieza no estaba bien, estaba todo pegajoso. La casa no es cómoda, la escalera para subir a la cocina y la terraza es redonda y apenas se puede subir ya que tienen mucha pendiente los escalones. Ademas había mucho ruido ya que hay un bar cerca.

I personally visited the property immediately after you and can report that the house was immaculate in its cleanliness. We have used the same cleaner for many years and the vast majority of reviews suggest that the house is very clean on arrival. Nonetheless, we will continue to monitor this, thank you for bringing it to our attention. The stairs are quite steep (as is the case with many Olhao townhouses) and this is clearly stated in the listing. A photo of the stairs is included for this reason. In the middle of the city
It was a good experience because we were in the center of the city, near the market, the restarants, pastry shops. The house is a nice place with a good terrace.

Propriété très bien située à Olhao. A proximité de beaucoup d’autres villes aux alentours. Maison bien équipée nous n’avons manqué de rien. Les explications de Neil étaient claires. Petit bémol pour l’eau chaude. Lorsque l’ on souhaite se laver les cheveux longs , plus d’eau chaude pour la personne suivante. Nous recommandons chaleureusement ce lieu.

Région magnifique, maison superbe et très bien située dans la ville, séjour formidable
Cette région du Portugal est magnifique : douceur de vivre, paysages, soleil...!! La maison est aussi belle que fonctionnelle malgré des escaliers un peu "étroits" (ce qui fait partie de son charme 😊) Bref, le séjour a été fantastique ! Merci Neil Dawson
