This was a wonderful experience. The villa is a little 'tired' having been built in the 1970s, and is showing signs of wear (and thus the 4 stars - if one could grade 4.9, this property would get it), but it is in an idyllic location, half way up the hill looking out west over the sea, with the tower of Old Alghero visible to the north. The swimming pool is a delight, and dinner on the terrace every evening was a wonderful way for the group together and talk through their experiences of the day. The coastline below the property is rock-pool rather than sand - a good place to snorkel.
Silvia, the housekeeper, is charmingly helpful - her advice was thoughtful and useful, and she took great care to assist with local issues. We arrived very late (at midnight) to a clean villa with everything ready for us, and Silvia and Daniele very kindly showed us round, despite the late hour. We could not have been better looked after.
This is a wonderful piece of Sardegna, away from the crowds and dust. Old Alghero is endlessly charming, with history and shops crammed into narrow Catalan alleyways, and plenty of gelaterie. Coming back to the villa in the evenings was always welcome, though we took several days just to enjoy the peace and quiet of the place itself, while the children played in the pool.
