Altausee is a small village set in a beautiful valley on the shores of Lake Altausee. This is the heart of Austria, and close to the centre point of the mountainous country. The village of less than 2,000 inhabitants is picture postcard perfect, with well maintained wooden houses, almost all bedecked with flower boxes and hanging baskets. "Das Hotel hat uns insgesamt sehr gut gefallen. Das Zimmer war schön und gemütig. Einziger kleiner Makel war, dass sich noch einige Haare vom Vorgänger auf dem Bett befanden, was verbesserungswürdig ist. Ansonsten war alles top. Besonders hervorzuheben ist das sehr gute und vielfältige Frühstück – vor allem die frisch zubereiteten Eierspeisen haben uns begeistert. Insgesamt ein angenehmer Aufenthalt."

"A great place to stay with stunning views. There's a bus stop at the entrance so it's easy to get to Dachstein Krippenstein and Hallstatt. There's also a wharf close by with two transport options. The mini-market in the resort is well stocked with plenty of options for self-catering. The staff were very friendly and helpful and restaurant food was excellent."
