With new COVID-19 safety guidelines in place, travel looks a lot different right now. These are some helpful things to know before you pack your bags for Altmühltal:

• Find out if any travel restrictions apply to your destination and origin before locking in a flight. Also check if there are any requirements you'll have to follow on arrival, such as undergoing health assessments.
• When you go through airport checkpoints, do not remove your face mask. You will be asked to briefly lower it for identification purposes. Those who refuse to wear a face mask may face civil penalties and may also be denied boarding.
• Rather than handing a TSA officer your boarding pass, place it straight on the scanner yourself. Once that's done, hold it up for inspection.
• TSA is now permitting passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on bags. This will have to be removed from your bag to be screened.
• Put any personal items (phone, wallet and keys for example) in your carry-on instead of a bin to minimize handling during screening.
• Transport your food items in a clear plastic bag and also place them in a screening bin. Separating food from your carry-on means it's less likely a TSA officer will need to open your bag for inspection.
