Hotel Casa Amsterdam

Hotel Casa Amsterdam

10/10 Excellent
"Very close to Amstel station meaning you can easily get into centre via the metro, takes about 10 mins. Quiet area but a few bars nearby. Very warm welcome and staff were very friendly. The only slight minor point was we’d asked for our room to be cleaned and it wasn’t. We managed to get fresh towels though and staff were apologetic."

Amsterdam: Family Travel Guide

There are so many things to see and do in Amsterdam with the whole family. Whether you are going for a week long vacation or a short winter break, you will be spoilt for choice for activities in this beautiful city.

Amsterdam is an extremely family-friendly city whether you want to meander around the pedestrianised city or soak up the culture in the many museums.

Family Hotels in Amsterdam

Amsterdam is filled with hotels that are suitable for solo travellers, couples and families. You will find many hotels in and near that are well accustomed to family stays. Whether you are looking for a hotel with amenities for kids or just somewhere that is close to the city centre, there is plenty of choice.

Family Activities in Amsterdam

One of the best ways to see the beauty of Amsterdam is by taking a canal tour. This is a great way to keep the kids occupied for an hour and most guides will be full of interesting facts to keep everyone in the family entertained.

While a cycle in the city centre might prove difficult with children in tow, some tour operators offer family cycling trips in the countryside. These make a fantastic break from the busy city where you can see what else Amsterdam and the surrounding areas have to offer.

All of the city’s large parks, including Vondelpark have great playgrounds to keep children occupied while enjoying the fresh air. Rembrandtpark, situated in the South-West area even features a petting zoo with goats, bunnies and horses.

Amsterdam has plenty of museums to choose from and some are perfect to visit with children. The Nemo Science Museum has lots of fun interactive exhibits that the adults will like as much as the kids!

If you are travelling with older children, then make sure to visit Anne Frank’s House, especially if your children have been studying the book at school. Some parts of the tour can be upsetting but you can skip certain parts depending on your child’s age.

Family Friendly Places to Eat in Amsterdam

You are spoilt for choice with places to eat in Amsterdam that are family friendly. You will find all your favourite chain restaurants in the centre as well as some great original spots.

Be sure to try some of the amazing local cuisine while exploring the city like stroopwafels and croquettes. The city is also famous for its cheese which is well worth sampling in cafes and restaurants. Don’t be afraid of bringing your kids to a food market, this is a great chance for them to soak up a different culture and try some exciting cuisine.
