Centrally located to Anchorage Alaska 20min drive, Walmart located 5-minute drive from the apartment, Two large bedrooms with one bathroom with a jetted bathtub with shower. Shared Foyer with owner who occupies the upper levels. The unit is in the lower level of the home Separated by locking doors.

This is our favorite place to stay in the Anchorage area! It's beautifully designed, the kitchen has everything we need, and the washer/dryer set up is perfect. We really like the location as well - it's a quiet neighborhood just a few minutes away from Walmart and the center of Eagle River.

Easy check in and nicely appointed rooms. Realky appreciated the laundry facilities and quiet location.Need a light switch to turn on porch light from rental so dont have go disturb owner.The bathroom (toilet especially) and kitchen stove could use a good cleaning.

Sports weekend-perfect place

We stayed in the Happy Bear for a swim meet weekend. Perfect place to rest and recoup each night and get ready for the next day. Quiet easy to find location, very comfortable and well decorated place. Great hosts.

Cozy, quiet, and perfect location

The property was extremely clean and quiet; the large TVs in each room were a huge bonus, and the mattress in the main room was amazing. The location is the perfect distance from Anchorage proper to not feel crowded in a city, but close enough that the drive time isn't much of a worry.

The bungalow had everything we needed. It was very cozy and we liked the location it was close to eagle river nature center which has various hiking trails and other areas that would have been perfect for viewing northern lights had the weather cooperated The jetted bath tub was perfect after a day spent hiking. Would definitely stay again.

Alaska adventure

Just here for a few days after exploring by train. Very clean and comfortable. Easy access to Anchorage, Palmer, and Alyeska/Girdwood. Appreciate the large, fluffy towels and kitchen set up. We even saw a moose and her babies down the street!!

Relaxing & Rejuvenating

The home was very spacious yet cozy. The jetted tub & separate shower was very nice. The fireplace kept us nice warm during the cold weather. The movie selection was great as they had a variety of things to watch. And the long size beds allowed for good sleep! The location was convenient as it was just around the corner from Walmart and not too far from downtown acreage, as well as close to local walking/hiking trails. We will definitely visit again!

Wonderful stay!

We really enjoyed our week at the Happy Bear Cozy Bungalow. It's located in a large basement with two bedrooms, a bathroom, living room and kitchenette (range, microwave, sink, full size fridge, keurig & plenty of counterspace). The laundry room is located between the bedrooms and the living room/kitchen, and we found the entire set-up extremely convenient - and beautifully designed. It was a nice neighborhood, less than a mile from the Walmart with easy access to restaurants and shopping. Since we stayed over Easter, we even got to meet some of the neighbors as they were hiding colored eggs in the snowbanks. Overall, excellent place to stay!

The property was nice & very supplied. My only issue is this is not as advertised. Advertised as an entire house with bedrooms on lower level. Thats one of the main reasons we booked it. One of our guests has bad knees & struggles with stairs. The reality is this is a house that has been turned into multiple apartments. The apartments are nice, but by lower level, this meant basement level, which meant stairs. I would have rated this 5 stars had I known this was an entire apartment that required stairs for access- but then again, I would not have booked it. We ended up staying elsewhere half of our trip. Again, the apartment was nice, beds were comfy, instructions were clear, supplies were provided- property just not a complete house & required stairs

As advertised

We were very satisfied with our week at Happy Bear. Tuesday was a great host, and was very helpful and responsive, even rushing over to open the door when we locked ourselves out. Everything about this place is exactly as described in the VRBO summary, and pictures. We loved the location. Close to JBER, Mt. Baldy, and the Chugach. Short drive for access to highway. 45 minutes from Hatcher Pass, and a hour to Girdwood and Alyeska, Quiet, safe, and pretty neighborhood. We did not want to be in the middle of the city of Anchorage, and this was perfect for our personalities. We were afraid the place would be tiny, but it was just, well, cozy. King bed is soft, queen bed is super firm, so depends on what works for you, but we slept comfortably. Plenty of closet space. Laundry room is huge, and conveniently placed between bedrooms and living room. Stocked with detergent, and looks like it’s being renovated, all new drywall. Everything you need to cook is available in the kitchen. Parking is easy, and we were even offered a space in the garage, and were handed an opener for it. This is a downstairs living space, but if the owner was home, we were not aware. Very quiet. We did find that we had to turn the thermostats way down in the bedrooms, as it did get pretty warm, but was fine one we adjusted. Tub and shower are great. Would be nice to have more coat racks/towel racks/hooks for jackets/ski gear, etc. Highly recommend. Would book again.

Overall it was a nice stay. The jacuzzi tub shower combination was nice but we are 80 years old and having no handgrips was a bit of a challenge. It in a nice quiet neighborhood and generally clean.
