About this property

Fall Mtn Views | Hot Tub · Game Room · 10m AVL

  • FALL AT ASTER RIDGE
A single-level hilltop retreat with Blue Ridge Mountain views — 10 minutes from downtown Asheville, and right in the path of the best color in the eastern United States.

YOU CAME FOR THE MOUNTAINS. DON'T SETTLE FOR A VIEW OF THE PARKING LOT.
Booking Asheville in leaf season is its own small stress. The good places go early. Half the listings that promise "mountain views" mean a slice of ridgeline between two roofs. And when you are travelling with parents, kids, a dog, or all three, the wrong house turns a colour trip into a logistics problem — everyone stacked on top of each other, nothing to do when the afternoon rain rolls in, and a long drive back to town every time you want dinner.

We built Aster Ridge to be the opposite of that.

    WHAT YOU WAKE UP TO
The house sits alone on the top of a hill, surrounded by a certified wildlife habitat. From the great room, the dining table and two of the three bedrooms you look out over the Blue Ridge — layered ridgelines that change colour through the day and give way to Asheville's lights and a sky full of stars at night. In October the hillsides in front of you turn gold and rust, and the whole reason you drove here is simply outside the window.

Our guests keep telling the same story. "The highlight was the gorgeous view of the mountains for miles and miles, the fall flowers in the gardens, and the stars at night." "It was so cool to have both indoor and outdoor fun between the fire pit outside at night and playing shuffleboard, pool, and the arcade games inside." "The hot tub and game room were perfect after a long day on the course, and the mountain views were incredible."

THE HOT TUB, THE FIRE PIT AND THE COLD NIGHTS THEY WERE MADE FOR
The deck runs the length of the view. The hot tub sits out on it, open to the sky — the single best seat in the house on a 45-degree October evening, steam coming off the water while the last light goes off the ridges. It has a locking safety cover, so it is straightforward with kids in the house.

A few steps away, a gas fire pit is ringed by eight Adirondack chairs. Gas means it lights in a second and there is no wood to buy, no smoke to chase, and no wet kindling after a rainy afternoon — you turn it on, and the evening starts. Bring marshmallows. Beside it, a flat-top grill and an outdoor dining table let you cook and eat with the mountains in front of you, and a pergola swing bench sits out over the slope for morning coffee.

INSIDE, FOR WHEN THE WEATHER TURNS
This is the part that matters in the fall and that most mountain rentals get wrong. A rainy day in the Blue Ridge is not unusual, and a house with nothing to do in it makes for a long one.

The great room has vaulted ceilings, mid-century furniture, deep velvet chairs and that wall of windows — the room guests describe as the reason they never went out. The dedicated game room is the other half of the answer: a full pool table, an air hockey table, a shuffleboard table, a sit-down Pac-Man arcade cabinet for two, a multi-game arcade table, a dartboard, and a sectional big enough for the whole group to sprawl on under a bold, hand-painted mural. The movie room pairs a 72-inch smart TV with plush seating for a proper film night. There is a vintage record player and a shelf of board games and books. And when the afternoon is dry, there is a private basketball half-court on the flat part of the driveway, with balls provided — it comes up in review after review. "The kids loved the basketball court and game room." "My young adult children loved the game room and basketball!" "Lots of great bonding time over air hockey, pool and shuffleboard."

Nobody in your group is bored, and nobody has to leave to fix it.

ROOM FOR EIGHT, WITHOUT ANYONE DRAWING THE SHORT STRAW
Three bedrooms, all on one level, no stairs anywhere in the house:
    • Primary suite — king bed, ensuite bathroom, its own coffee station, a desk, a smart TV and direct deck access. You can walk from bed to the hot tub without crossing the house.
    • Bedroom two — king bed, mountain views, smart TV, and its own door onto the back deck.
    • Bedroom three — two queen beds and a smart TV, wrapped in a warm autumn-leaf wallpaper. (Note: this room has no clothing storage.)
Two full bathrooms with walk-in showers, good mirrors and lighting, robes and quality toiletries. Room-darkening shades throughout, ceiling fans, extra pillows and blankets, and a washer and dryer in the house.

Single-level living matters more than people expect. Grandparents are not negotiating stairs at night, toddlers are not a hazard, and the dog is not stuck on one floor.

THE KITCHEN AND THREE PLACES TO EAT
The kitchen is open to the view and genuinely equipped — stainless refrigerator, stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave, blender, rice maker, kettle, toaster, baking sheets, real cooking basics, dishes and wine glasses for the whole group. The coffee station covers every camp: drip, pods and a French press, with coffee, decaf, cocoa and tea stocked.

Then pick your table. The formal dining table seats eight under a "Breathe in the Blue Ridge" slat wall. The kitchen bar seats four for a fast breakfast before an early Parkway drive. Or take it outside to the deck. In fall, dinner in and a fire afterwards beats a downtown wait list most nights.

    BRING THE DOG
Up to two dogs (35 lbs each) are genuinely welcome, not merely tolerated. We provide a plush dog bed, bowls and a feeding station, pet wipes for muddy paws after a trail day, and eco-friendly waste bags. The property is open and wooded — please note there is no fenced yard. A pet fee applies and goes toward the extra cleaning; please keep pets off the beds and furniture, and don't leave them loose and alone in the house.

    WHERE YOU ACTUALLY ARE
Close enough to Asheville to be spontaneous, far enough up the hill to hear nothing:
    • Downtown Asheville — 10 min. Galleries, the Pinball Museum, street art, South Slope's breweries.
    • West Asheville — 11 min. Sunny Point Cafe, Biscuit Head, The Admiral, Neng Jr.'s, Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack, Leo's House of Thirst, Gypsy Queen.
    • Biltmore Estate — 15 min. The grounds are at their best in fall, and Christmas at Biltmore runs from early November.
    • Blue Ridge Parkway visitor center — 20 min. The classic colour drive; the high-elevation stretches turn first in late September, and our own elevation peaks in the last third of October.
    • North Carolina Arboretum — 20 min · River Arts District — 15 min · Asheville Outlets — 15 min
    • Craggy Gardens — 25 min · Pisgah National Forest and Looking Glass Falls — 30 min · Mount Mitchell, the highest peak east of the Mississippi — 50 min
    • Navitat Ziplining — 30 min · Asheville Treetop Adventure Park — 15 min · Zen Tubing — 25 min
    • Asheville Farmers Market — 15 min · Ingles grocery — 5 min
    • Asheville Regional Airport — 25 min
A car is the best way to get around, and parking here is free and off-street.

    ARRIVING IS EASY
Book the dates. We send you a rental agreement to sign and your smart-lock code — there is no key to collect and no one to meet. Let yourself in whenever you land, and the house is stocked and ready: coffee on the counter, firewood not required, hot tub already hot. If anything comes up, message us — we answer.

    A NOTE ON THE DRIVEWAY
The driveway is steep, and it is worth knowing before you arrive. It is not an issue in fall weather. In the rare event of snow, an AWD or 4WD vehicle helps; if you can't make the incline, park in the lower driveway and walk up. Street parking is not permitted, per HOA rules that keep the road clear for emergency vehicles.

    FALL FILLS FAST HERE
Colour weekends, the craft fairs, the Parkway drives and Thanksgiving are the busiest dates on this calendar, and the house books ahead for them. If you already know your dates, take them. If you are still deciding, message us — we'll tell you honestly what the color usually looks like that week and help you pick the right room setup for your group.

Come see the mountains for miles.
