The COVID-19 outbreak may have changed the way we travel, but it hasn't deterred our desire to explore. Here are some tips on how to cope with the new challenges of travelling:

• Before booking your flight, check if any travel restrictions or bans apply — in both your destination and origin. Get up-to-date information by reviewing government travel advisories.
• When you pass through airport screening, do not remove your face mask. You will be required to lower it briefly to confirm your identity. Passengers who refuse to wear a mask may face civil penalties and may also be escorted from the terminal.
• Instead of handing a TSA employee your boarding pass, place it straight on the scanner yourself. Then, hold it up for inspection.
• One container of liquid hand sanitizer is now allowed in your carry-on baggage. It must be no larger than 12 oz (350 ml), and you'll have to remove it from your bag at the X-ray machine for scanning.
• Remove personal items from your pockets, such as your wallet, keys and phone, and put them in your carry-on rather than the bins. This will reduce handling during the screening process.
• If you're bringing food on the plane with you, put it in a clear plastic bag and then into a scanning bin. This lessens the likelihood that a TSA officer will need to touch your carry-on bag or food container for inspection.
