Stayed a night and left. Didnt even have bed sheets. That pissed me off enough to just leave. Double the price you'll live like a king. It's not worth it.

This property was awesome.. the staff was very pleasant and its literally so close to the main city that you can see it from the balcony.. would definitely recommend.. the price was awesome and housekeeping was done everyday

Stay away from this place! Linens are dirty, the mattress reeks of urine, it has bed bugs. Overall a disaster. Pictures from their website are not real.

The staff were wonderful. We did not like the lock on the door. It was not a good lock. Anyone could open the door easily. My wife kept blocking the door with a chair when we slept. The building next to the hotel is abandoned and has a lot of graffiti and make one feels unsafe

Close to monastiraki, ermou st etc… 10 minute walk .. omonia square wasn’t that bad, one minute walk. Nice clean hotel, friendly staff. Bus stop and taxis right out front.

Walkable to everything: metro, grocery, restaurants, Acropolis.... But quiet as compared to other hotels in area. Good breakfast. Only downside is sex store in front of it.

Regarding safety of the area, some roadways near the hotel were clearly more secluded and run down than others. They had more graffiti and trash around. Passed through these area multiple times it’s definitely not a welcoming feeling but there were other people around all the late evening times I passed through so I wasn’t worried about something happening. The hotel was decent in all other aspects.

Okay overall
I wanted to rate it 5 but i had to take off 2 points. Check in was great and the staff were awesome. The room overall was fine. The points lost are because the bed is extremely uncomfortable and the amount of noise throughout the night was unbelievable. I did not sleep well either night.

The Ares Hotel is in a good location, fairly quiet, basic but all you need, and has a friendly staff. Some of the reviews made this place sound worse but for the price I think it’s a really good deal. If you’re a Diva this isn’t your hotel, but for a budget-aware and on the move kind of person it’s great. I’d stay there again for sure.

The lady at the desk is amazing, literally is Greek Grammy. She’s so sweet and nice. Does everything you need without any hesitation. Location was okay, view was nice. The negative for me was the rooms. Bed was so uncomfortable. Room was more of a big jail cell with cement walls and a bed.

The front desk lady is a bit grumpy and the area is a bit sketchy. All the safety blogs quotes this neighborhood as unsafe, granted nothing happened to us but we usually returned back to the hotel before dark. Location is central and price is affordable, but not fantastic.

Great place.
This is a terrific hotel if you are here to see Athens. It is close to the transportation hub called Omonia square. The hotel is old. It is European style. Not American. It is immaculately clean! There is coffee and tea and croissants available in the morning. The staff could not be nicer or more helpful.

All the Hotel staff is great. Athina the Manager, as well Nikos and Nikos are extremely friendly, they make one feel like at home. The Hotel is very centric and one can move around easily. Kudos for “Ares Hotel” keep up the great job.
