Scenic Setting Just 8 Minutes From Athens

  • Pleasant Hill Retreat is a clean, comfortable, scenic two bedroom apartment/getaway; 1.5 baths, sleeps four adults and two youth very well. Children are welcome and with pet approval, a $35 per-pet fee per-night is charged. Please note that for guests beyond two there is an additional fee which VRBO may not display unless you click "View Details" below the rate total.

    Just minutes to O.U., shopping and dining. A spacious living room overlooks a private lake as do two bedrooms and decks. There is a fully equipped eat-in kitchen w/coffee and the apartment wonderfully accommodates travelers, explorers and small families. While the laundry room is available to guests, it is also accessible to the owners with a lockable door ensuring privacy.

    This place is a great hub for activities related to Ohio University, the micro breweries and restaurants of Athens, hiking trails, Strouds Run State Park, lakes, boat rentals, picnic areas, and the O.U. golf course. A 50 minute drive will take you into the heart of the Hocking Hills. Although the lake view is only a borrowed one, it does offer an amazing vista and wildlife abounds.

The apartment/cabin has the most peaceful surroundings and is just minutes away from Ohio University. The owners thought of just about anything you could need during your stay and it was very clean. You can't beat the view.

Great getaway, close to Athens and wineries

Great stay! Our old blind dog settled in easy and we were able to enjoy the weekend with our Ohio Bobcat! Well stocked kitchen, also had backup toiletries etc just in case. Pleasant Hill Winery is just down the road and Shade Winery is about 10 mins away. This was the least ‘buggy’ place we have tried in the area. Very well done and enjoyable stay.

Escape in the woods

Its a perfect getaway if someone wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. It was a beautiful house located at the banks of lake. We wanted to visit Hocking Hills State Park and this location was just 40 mins drive from there. A perfect place to relax.

I had a short but wonderful stay at this apartment. It was extremely clean and welcoming and I felt comfortable staying there. As others have said, they thought of everything I could have needed. I was staying there from out of state to move my daughter into Ohio University and it was very convenient to the school. I would definitely enjoy staying here again.

This was a wonderful home away from home in a beautiful natural setting that offered the feel of a retreat while being just a short ten minute drive too the center of the OU campus. Peaceful nature Retreat

This is the quietest and most peaceful home we've ever visited. The property is in the country, away from noise and distractions, but a short drive to restaurants and stores. The beds were so comfortable that we slept wonderfully. The surrounding area is farmland with cornfields and a winery. The view of the pond and forest made our stay very relaxing, and enjoyable. Would definitely stay here again.

We had a lovely experience! The apartment is in a treed area overlooking a lake… a variety of amenities and supplies were provided. What an absolute gem!

This place was a real treasure. The apartment is in the bottom story of the home with floor to ceiling windows, showcasing the beautiful creek. We bumped into Carrie & Matt as we were arriving and they were generous to rattle off a few great hiking and food recommendations - we loved these! The hosts have done everything to make their cabin cozy and welcoming. Small flashlights on the nightstands, available toiletries, firm/quality mattresses, plenty of kitchenware - we loved all the small touches. We spent hours outside on the porch reading and talking and enjoying the view. Thanks for a great weekend!

Nive with caveat

Th property is nice. The apartment is very cozy and clean. The property is pretty. We have zero complaints about the comfort of the property. What isn't clear in the listing is that what you are renting is an apartment in the lower level of the pictured house which is also the owner's home. So while the house is comfortable, it isnt private. Had this been clear, we probably wouldn't have chosen to stay there with three rambunctious children. While the owner never complained, we were never the less constantly on guard to make sure the kids didn't make too much noise. The owners were pleasant to deal with and even cut us a break on the extra fees for having the kids. This would probably be a good place for a few adults that just need a clean place that is close to Athens.
