Grand Hotel Salerno

2/10 Terrible

"This place was a huge disappointment. When we got there the room was stifling, and we couldn't figure out how to lower the air on the wall-mounted thermostat. There was no information next to the phone on how to contact the main desk, so I gave up and walked downstairs. The guy at the counter said that the room was at 28C which should be acceptable (it is NOT - that's close to 83!) and that the lowest he could take it to was 23 - or about 74 F. So the room temp is controlled by the front desk? Then why is there even a thermostat on the wall in the room? Well, we were leaving that afternoon for dinner in Ravello, and wouldn't be back until late. When we did get back around 11 p.m., it was warmer than ever!! In Italy, when you remove the keycard from the wall, nothing electric works - even the A/C! It was hot and stuffy. I didn't want to deal with the knuckleheads at the front desk again, so we just tried our best to sleep. We were so uncomfortable - finally I had to open the front window, which did allow a bit of cool air in but then we were subjected to the motorcycles racing around, dogs barking, people screaming at each other etc. We barely slept at all that night. Oh, and they left us two bottles of water on the desk when we got there - nice! So I put them in the fridge. When we got back that night, the bottles were still warm - though plugged in, the mini fridge wasn't working! What a nightmare. This place needs to be re-classified down from 4 stars to 1."

"A fantastic experience all around. The most gorgeous property, expansive views, and fantastic staff. The restaurants on site were the best food we had out of all of the stops we made, with the casual grill restaurant being our favorite, but of course the fine dining restaurant was amazing as well. It was hard to leave!"

"Hotel was beautiful, staff was friendly. We stayed in the Luxury 2 bedroom apartment with 5 adults. Plenty of room for all of us. The only consideration is the distance from the main hotel to the apartment and it’s on a curvy narrow road which is not too easy to walk on with traffic. May want to consider staying at the main hotel with elderly or young children."

"Villa Piedimonte was a decent stay overall. The pool area was beautiful, the breakfast was high quality, and the property was well maintained. However, the location was less convenient than expected for walking around Ravello, especially when the hotel shuttle was not operating due to its limited hours. Pricing also seemed to vary significantly from night to night, which made the value proposition less consistent. While the hotel has its strengths, I would recommend comparing it with other options in Ravello, as there may be properties with better locations and overall value for the price."

"Wonderful stay at Reginna Palace! Everything was extremely clean, well maintained, and very comfortable throughout our visit. The hotel staff provided excellent service and made us feel welcomed from the moment we arrived. The atmosphere was relaxing, the location was beautiful, and the overall experience exceeded our expectations. Definitely a hotel I would highly recommend!"

"We booked Hotel Montestella after we arrived at a horrible unsafe and dirty VRBO and needed an emergency place to stay for the next 4 nights. This place was a life saver for us and so clean! We absolutely enjoyed our stay and am very grateful that there was a room available. Everything was perfect. I would definitely stay here again and will be recommending to my friends and family. Thank you so much!!!"
