Very quiet, nice staff, but the value for money was quite low. The nicest part was the garden of the house, but overall the experience and facilities didn’t feel worth the price. It felt more like a Airbnb than a hotel.
Driving in the old city is challenging, so taxi if possible. Once you arrive, though, this property is a slice of French heaven. The grounds are astonishing. The building itself is old, yet surprisingly modern. Large windows, a huge tub, and a very comfy bed. A perfect place to get away!
Quite the experience! Room and B and B were very beautiful, large and spotless. Location is very unique and is simple to navigate with the amazing instructions given from the staff. Restaurant suggestions were perfect for what we were looking for. Breakfast could be a little more robust but other than that it was perfect. Avignon itself is charming with enough to keep you busy for 2-3 days.
Cheers
We really enjoy it our stay in Aviñón de hotel was fantastic Fool of history and it renovated Patti Luke Amazing inside with all the decor in detail the owner put into it rooms are spaces comfortable de ver very comfortable breakfast was wonderful the cheeses Bread
Had a great stay overall. The room was spotless and just as nice as it looked in the photos. The grounds were lovely, and the breakfast was excellent. Also the staff were very polite, professional and responsive to every request.
Amazing and magical place. We felt welcomed and wished we could stay more time (as this was part of a trip planned).
Superb location and kind staff. Thank you
What a special and amazing place that transport you to a historical and luxurious place from the moment you get through the gates.
The staff are amazing, Dorian was so patient with helping us find this special property, a former cardinal’s home with the city’s largest private garden. Each of its 5 suites have a different personality. We can’t wait to come back
This bed and breakfast has the largest private garden in Avignon. The staff was amazing and couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating. The property has been totally renovated with beautiful antiques and a whimsical touch. The home is surrounded by a green oasis in the middle of the walled city.
The best stay of my entire 2 month European tour. Thank you to Dorian consigliere for impeccable and cheerful service. Stunning gardens, room and history. If you're thinking about booking, just do it! Will come back.
We loved the place, so rich in history and the staff was very attentive to our needs.
What you can do better,
When a client comes into a room you should see the client and not continue talking among staff. I understand it is the french way to say hallo but make an effort.
Indication to the parking is missing
What deco concerns sometimes less is more
It’s a hidden gem, one of a kind garden hotel in Avignon. I think it’s a better option than La Mirande if you prefer privacy and a tranquil feeling. Others might find service is a bit scarce but I think it’s just the right amount.
I highly recommend this unique property if you are traveling to Avignon or the surrounding area. It’s a surprising garden oasis in the middle of a medieval walled city. The staff was extremely accommodating with dining recommendations and made sure they were available whenever needed. They welcomed us as if we were staying in their very own home. Dorian went above and beyond!
This is one of the most wonderful and comfortable places I have ever stayed. The property is beautiful, the rooms are very large (even by US standards), the breakfast was fantastic, but the people were beyond all expectations. Henri, Veldi, Dominique, and Norwin (the folks who manage and run the place) are the most wonderful, welcoming, friendly and kind people you will meet as a traveler. Truly an exceptional visit. There are no downsides. Just fantastic.
Pros: Beautifully and whimsically decorated. Cons: Showing wear and tear (e.g. patches on walls where clothes hooks have fallen off). Smell from shower drain when we arrived (eliminated after I ran the shower and flushed the drain with water). At this price point, property should be better kept.
After arriving by train we walked up the barren narrow street to a 15 ft medieval door. We pulled a small lever and within a minute someone opened it. We stepped into a literal Oasis. The temperature dropped instantly by about 5 degrees. We were greeted by Dorian…. Who proceeded to welcome us with a drink and tell us about our beautiful home for the next 3 days. We were shown to our suite the “Aphrodite” which had a private large terrace and a small side attached bedroom for our 11 yr old daughter. The air conditioning was sublime as France was in the middle of a heat wave…. temp was 37- 39 degrees. The morning breakfast in the gardens near the refreshing pool was delicious and perfect. The location of the Hotel is 5 min from the Papal palace and everything else in Avignon. I would love to come back here in a heartbeat on our next trip to France. The Divine comedie is one of the best boutique Hotels we have stayed at anywhere in the world
I had a wonderful stay at the La Divine Comedie during my recent trip to Avignon. The staff was warm, accessible and accommodating. The grounds were beautiful and the room was absolutely spacious and lovely. The staff was able to arrange transportation and tour guides for me in advance of my arrival to Avignon. I would highly recommend this a stay at La Divine Comedie for anyone who plans on visiting Avignon.
