"The staff is tops starting from the reception to the restaurant. The view from the terrace is reminiscent of my childhood, a tremendous gift as I am drinking my coffee. One think I would suggest to management is to complain to the municipio to have a crew of street cleaners take care of what is leftover trash and unsold merchandise discarded by the weekend street market. "The hotel has lovely, bright rooms with sea views, which we really enjoyed. Breakfast is typical of a four-star hotel, with freshly squeezed juice and eggs cooked to order available. The swimming pool is quite large, and it was one of the main reasons we chose this hotel. Unfortunately, the pool is not heated, which was our biggest disappointment. The water is too cold for comfortable swimming, and we didn’t see anyone using it. The hotel’s location is excellent."

"We stayed here for 5 nights, it was a wonderful stay. The hotel is charming & very well maintained. Staff is very friendly & helpful. Breakfast was lovely with ample options.Location is central with the view of the water from the rooftop & walk to the marina where the ferries leave is abt 20 mnts but there is an elevator that can take you down to that marina also if u are not in the mood to walk down.Grand Marina is also abt 15-20 mnts walk, has some nice restaurants. Lots of restaurants & shopping right outside the hotel. The Donna Sofia Restaurant just outside the hotel is a great dining option."

"Beautiful vistas and nice hotel. Having the shuttle was convenient for getting into town and it was nice to have a quiet place to return to. The breakfast was nice, though we felt the food otherwise was just ok. Unfortunately on the first night got sick we believe from bad sea urchin pasta. I would stay again and just plan to eat meals out besides for breakfast, as we would normally anyway, but after being so tired from traveling, hoped to have better food options on site. The pool was very nice, the jacuzzi was warm but not hot and they both close at 7, having the option to swim at night would have been nice."

"The location of the Excelsior is superb, overlooking the Bay of Naples. If you have the port side rooms you wake up to Vesuvius across the Bay and can watch its many moods throughout the day. On the roof top terrace you can watch the lights turn on in the city and see Vesuvius become a presence that is hard to ignore. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in, and we needed it after 12 days of negotiating the cobblestone streets of the Amalfi Coast, averaging 6 miles a day, and we're senior citizens! This hotel holds a special place in my heart. The breakfast alone is worth staying here! The staff was super nice. The hotel is a piece of old Italian luxury and has to be experienced."
