The hotel is very nice and has a great position looking down and over the town of Sorrento. The staff at the hotel were fantastic and everyone of them friendly and helpful. It should be known that the position of the hotel makes it very unsuitable for walking into town but the hotel provides a very good bus service.

The two best things about this stay were these: Upon arrival we were greeted by a very nice young man and the other is the breakfast. The variety is great. There’s a very businesslike woman who is not friendly. She treats you like a number and reprimands you if you don’t understand something. They do have a shuttle service to downtown which was convenient. The hotel is very outdated, A/C is controlled by the front desk and towels are gross/old. It seems more like a 3 star hotel not 4.

We didn’t realize how far out from the town the hotel was located, which made it feels a bit secluded. The shuttle seemed like a great service, but with two small kids it was daunting for us to figure out when it may be too packed so we didn’t use it. The food was good and the staff was kind, again, important as we were nervous travelers with two small kids! Our kids loved the pool and game room, but I wished there was more to the game room for them. Overall, it was a good experience but not a location we’d select again.

Honestly the photos don’t do it justice - the views from the balcony and restaurant down to Sorrento are breathtaking. Handy bus to take you into town and back too.

We had a very good stay at the Grand Hotel President in Sorrento. The staff were helpful, the hotel was clean, and the breakfast had a good variety of options. The hotel is about an 8-minute shuttle ride from Sorrento’s center, with the shuttle running approximately once an hour. A taxi costs around €35. Walking downhill to town takes about 30 minutes, but travelling with kids, we never attempted the uphill walk back. The swimming pool was a lifesaver during the hot Sorrento afternoons and was definitely one of the highlights of our kids stay. Overall, a clean and comfortable hotel with helpful staff and a great pool. Just keep in mind that getting to and from the center requires some planning.

The hotel is located on top of a hill with an amazing view of Sorento. But that is also the problem - you need a car to travel everywhere - nothing is in walking distance. They do provide a shuttle to Sorento so that is a plus. The kitchen is not open all day which means you need to plan your meals and that assuming the power does not cut down for half a day. Breakfast is decent - opens at 7:00, the terrace on the other hand opens a 07:30 and the egg station at 08:00... so plan accordingly.
