"The check-in and check-out process was very easy and fast without a deposit. The FO gave me a room with a nice view, the sea and the pool. The room was clean, the AC was cold, the shower was very strong. but now they don't provide bar soap, shower cap, toothbrush in the bathroom but when you check in, they will ask for this and if you need it, they will give it to you. everything is ok, only the security in front of the lobby door must be alert if guests bring a lot of luggage. There is no need to ask whether they need help carrying the suitcase or not. I think it's better to just help directly without having to ask. Novotel Balikpapan, January 5, 2026"

"This property was a masdive disappointment..i arrived at night and reception unmanned with a phone number to call..but i had just arrived in the country with no phone service. Finally someone came and gave me a key..the smell hit me as i opened the door..awful stink coming from under the sink..old dirty rags wet through mopping up a leaky sink.the pillows stank of stale sweat..they needed throwing out..shower had hot water for 2 minutes then nothing and no soap or shampoo provided..the white bathtowels were grey and ragged..general decor of the room was sad and tatty..the tv didnt work and the wifi kept dropping off literally every 10 minutes. Overall the apartment was not well maintained or cared for..just a source of income for the owner. I booked 3 nights but checked after 1 night...im not over fussy with accomodation but this place should not be offered to travellers..dont stay here!"
