The property was just ok. These are very minor points but it was very hard to open the doors to get to our room and when trying to roll luggage, it was very difficult.
Also, there was a pair of dirty socks next to our night stand. They provided only two instant coffee packs and when I went down to the front desk at 7AM, nobody was available and finally when somebody was, they couldn’t find anymore coffee.
The service at the attached bar was excellent and all the individuals serving us were extremely friendly.
Finally, our room was left unlocked after the cleaning on the first day. We came back at 6PM and the door was not only unlocked but wasn’t completely closed. Fortunately, all our belongings were still there.
Nice village hotel. Friendly young staff, great location. Lovely bar with music every evening. Walking distance to pier and famous Monk's Pub. Clean rooms, good breakfast, decent pub grub.
The hotel owner and staff welcomed the wedding party with wide open arms. Everyone was very kind and happy to have us there! Also, it is a beautiful area and hotel.
Our group stayed for a wedding and had an absolute blast! The staff is amazing and we loved the owner. Very friendly group of people and the rooms were very spacious.
For people, food, and unspoiled beauty there is no better place than Ballyvaughan. David and his team are beyond professional and caring and we are so grateful to be able to have shared a few days together. Thank you again for everything that has been done, and we look forward returning.
Do not stay here! Music in attached bar was going until 4am, made multiple calls throughout the night, was so loud couldn't sleep at all... Nothing was done to resolve. Spiders, cobwebs, old bathroom, musty smell. Had three rooms here and all had their issues.
This was a very very dated property - carpet floors where old and dirty bedding was warn and beds were uncomfortable. Bathroom was extremely dated and over all the room was in need of a renovation. Not just old but warn out

We really enjoyed our stay. The front desk staff were very helpful with suggestions of what to see in the area and provided detailed maps. We ate at the pub both nights and the food was delicious and the staff friendly. We especially enjoyed the entertainment. Our room was lovely and clean.
Ballyvaughn is a very small town, with a number of pubs and restaurants within walking distance. Plus the pier on the bay made for memorable evening walks. The hotel’s pub was fun. During the week local folks come in and play music. It seemed to be something they do for their own enjoyment rather than something done for tourists which made the experience great. The hotel’s breakfast was great too, I recommend the eggs benedict!
Lovely hotel with a terrific staff. No laundry on the property but self operated machines close by. Breakfast was very good. There are plenty of places to eat within a ten- fifteen minute walk.
First the good. Staff was excellent. Accomodated us for dinner after late arrival...and food was tasty.
The bad:
-no elevator
-huge waterstains in hallway
-wifi not working
-terrace between first and second floor looked like a tenement
-needs updating, dated and worn carpet, furniture, etc.
From the moment we arrived the staff were welcoming. Food was excellent. The craic in the bar with live music was fabulous.
Look forward to returning.
There was a problem in the bathroom which was reported to maintenance.....quite dangerous and damaging....possibly!
We arrived quite a bit early and were given a warm welcome with tea and told we could sit by the fire until our rooms were ready. The inn was clean and comfortable and well situated within the little town. We enjoyed the live music in the pub every night and the breakfast every morning. We would stay here again.
I rarely write reviews but this place stood out for its very poor value. Not terrible but I would say most lackluster hotel we stayed in throughout our Ireland trip and the most expensive by a significant factor--and this was low season. Mentioned this to the hotel staff and got a disinterested shrug. Property felt worn. Stains on the carpet. Followed advice from other reviewers and did not eat in the restaurant and instead had a lovely meal at Monks. Look elsewhere.
It's a cosy old hotel in the heart of Ballyvaughan, on the edge of the Burren.
Good food, good accommodation and a great welcome. Live music in the bar.
The only drawback for us is that there is no lift/elevator, and this can mean several flights of stairs.
