Enjoy the absolute serenity on this isolated island with its camping tents, a stunning beach and a coral reef network.

Bamboo Island is a tiny, idyllic landmass with pristine white beaches, transparent water and excellent snorkeling opportunities. It is part of the Phi Phi archipelago, but is less rocky and more remote than its sister islands. Experience utter tranquility on this isolated and picturesque slice of paradise.

Snap photos of the scenic, verdant vegetation that engulfs the heart of the island. Gaze up at the casuarina and bamboo trees, among other plants. Along the island’s circumference is a scenic beach peppered with rocks. Wade just off the shore and watch fish swimming around your feet in the warm water.

Bring snorkeling gear and get a closer look at the Hin Klang coral reef that adorns the seabed here. The water is clean, clear and shallow. Stretch out a blanket on the soft sand and enjoy a picnic. Lie down and relax with friends as you enhance your tan. Purchase snacks and refreshments from a small bar.

Rent a camping tent to sleep beneath the stars. Wake up early in the morning to watch the sunrise from this serene stretch of sand.

Note that the beaches can get fairly busy in peak season, from December through March. The island has an evacuation route for the unlikely event of an unforeseen tsunami. The island’s Thai name is Koh Pai.

Pay for a long-tail boat ride to the island and a smaller amount for admittance to the national park. Visit the island during daylight hours and allow at least 1 hour to look around before heading back, unless you intend to stay overnight.

Find Bamboo Island in the Andaman Sea, just north of the Phi Phi Islands. Take a long-tail boat to the island from the Ton Sai beach in the Phi Phi Don district. The journey should take about 45-60 minutes, depending on weather and sea conditions.
