About this property
Take a Deep Breath at Eagles Nest - sleeps 26, sauna, views, hot tub, games
Take A Deep Breath at Eagles Nest A private mountain sanctuary at 5,200 feet — Banner Elk, North Carolina ________________________________________ Some spaces are rented. Others are curated. Perched at 5,200 feet in the Blue Ridge Mountains — one of the highest homes east of the Mississippi — Take A Deep Breath is a private mountain sanctuary created by leaders who use it themselves: a founder who hosts her retreats here, an executive who runs his offsites here, and the family who gathers here across generations. The 180-degree view of North Carolina's most prominent peaks from every part of the home creates inspiration and “wow” around every corner during your stay. The sunrise and sunset over the mountaintops are not to be described—just experienced. You already know the feeling of being the one everyone counts on — the planner, the host, the person holding it all together. This is the rare place designed to lift that weight off your shoulders the moment you arrive. Up here, above the noise and the everyday, the only thing left to do is exactly what the name says, Take a Deep Breath. ________________________________________ For the gatherings that deserve more than a booking Take A Deep Breath was built for three kinds of people who all carry something heavy — and all come here to set it down: • Multi-generational families — for the rare seasons when everyone is finally under one roof, and you want the trip to become a chapter in the family story instead of another vacation that was merely "fine." • Founders and retreat hosts — for the leader who holds space for everyone else and needs a space that holds her back, where the setting does half the work and her people walk in and feel held. • Executive teams — for the offsite that needs clarity, not just a change of scenery: privacy for the real conversations, and enough altitude to think past the operational churn. • A Luxury escape from it all — for those that need true serenity in a magically designed and architected space with all the little details tended to. ________________________________________ The Home Room enough for everyone — and a reason to come back together Seven bedrooms, including a convertible office, and seven bathrooms mean no one fights over space and no one feels on top of anyone else. Everyone gets a corner to retreat to — and everyone still ends up in the great room by nightfall.
• Four king master suites, each with a spa-style ensuite • A guest suite with two queen beds and a private bath • A one-of-a-kind bunk room — three double-stacked queen bunks (six beds) with its own bath, built so adults and children can pile in together • A convertible office with a queen bed, for the work that can't wait or the overflow that always seems to come
Every room is named for a peak framed in its window — Grandfather, Beech, Sugar, and Mount Mitchell — so you wake up oriented not by a number on a door, but by the mountains on the horizon. Perspective, it turns out, is the first thing that changes when you rise above the noise.
A living wall of glass A dramatic wall of glass spans the entire back of the home, framing the ridgelines, clouds, and sky like a painting that refuses to sit still. Some mornings the clouds settle below the deck and you drink your coffee above the weather. By golden hour the whole valley turns to light. The view never holds for long — it moves with you all day.
Wellness, built for restoration The most meaningful time away is the kind that returns you sharper than you left.
• Personal home gym • Hot Tub • Cold plunge — the gasp, then the quiet • Sauna
Your own private gym is fully equipped with everything you need! Extend those garage doors to create a beautiful open air environment while you workout.
And found nowhere else on the ridgeline: the only expansive, flat backyards available for rent at this altitude. Flat land this high is rare. Yours is the space for sunrise yoga, a family game on real grass, retreat programming — or simply room to breathe.
Room to gather Designed by the award-winning DelGavio studio of Palo Alto, California, every space balances refinement with the kind of comfort that makes people actually stay in it. • A full recreation room — billiards, ping pong, shuffleboard, a poker table, and a full bar: the room where the teenagers choose to stay in, and three generations somehow end up at the same table past midnight • A covered outdoor deck with a fireplace, seating, and dining — woodsmoke and the dusk temperature drop included • A fully equipped outdoor kitchen and grill for the long, unhurried evenings together ________________________________________ Built by people who live it This isn't an investor's spreadsheet with a view. It's a home, engineered through lived experience by the people who use it most: • A founder who hosts her own transformational retreats here — so the flow, the light, and the sense of being held were designed by someone who does exactly what you do. • An executive who runs his leadership offsites here — so the privacy and the quiet were built for real strategic conversation, not for a camera. • And their family, who gathers here across generations — so the comfort, the kid-flow, the adult-quiet, and the everyday usability are real, not staged. They created this space for their own most meaningful moments, and opened it to others who gather with the same intention. That is rare in luxury rentals — and you'll feel it the moment you walk in. This home isn't right for every trip. It's for the ones you'll still be talking about in ten years. ________________________________________ The Eagles Nest community Take A Deep Breath sits inside the gated Eagles Nest community, with access to most of its amenities throughout your stay: The Great Camp — Epic Chophouse (open to renters, no membership required), a BBQ pavilion, an amphitheater with summer concerts (May through late November), the Great Lawn, a playground, hiking trails, a seasonal ropes course and climbing tower, a mini-golf course, and a 24/7 general store. North Pavilion — the unlocked Sportsman's Lodge, a sports court (basketball and pickleball), a dog park, walking trails, the Sportsman's Grille (Wed–Sun, hours vary), a fire pit, and the woodland hiking-and-biking trail system. The Camp (bring your own equipment) — tennis, pickleball, basketball, frisbee golf, archery, and a playground. The Vineyard — food and wine on site, with Eagles Nest Winery day passes available for $25 each (Thu–Fri 4–10 PM, Sat 2–10 PM, Sun 2–8 PM; please verify seasonally). All winery visitors must be 16 or older, except on Sundays — strictly enforced. ________________________________________ Reserve your dates The calendar fills first around the moments that matter most — holidays, summers, skiing, peak color season, and retreat weekends. If you already know this is where your people should gather, reserve your dates before they're spoken for. Some homes are booked. This one is chosen.
