After seeing a couple of less than perfect reviews, I was a bit concerned about this hotel but I was thrilled with the room we had, the extras provided and all aspects of the service this hotel offered.

Wonderful hotel for our 3 nights in Barcelona. We walked everywhere easily, yet it was quiet and slightly off the main touristed roads. There was a wonderful upscale Tapas restaurant just 2-3 blocks away that turned out to be our favorite restaurant of our entire 10-day Spain trip. Excellent front desk, so helpful. Will stay here again next trip to Barcelona. Excellent experience.

Great location, close to many shops and restaurants. Little further out of you want the old town. Feel they could do more with the pool area. Nice thou to relax, when the kids weren’t splashing around. Really good nights sleep, great working air con and quiet rooms.

Balmes has the best location, large rooms, lots of towels, comfortable beds, good breakfast and a parking lot in front . My only peeve would be that their internet is not good .

Probably one of the worst rooms with safety hazards and a fraud. Staying away from this hotel chain in future. The description/pictures showed a two room apartment with a bathroom all on the same floor. The room allotted to us was crammed and not the same - had bathroom access on the room entry floor and a flight of stairs above to access room above and another flight of stairs to access 2nd sofa bed room below. It’s a safety hazard for families with 20-30kg suitcases. On asking hotel staff, room change was not done and staff insisted that this was mentioned. A scam for hotel in this price range.

Noisy

Nice clean modern hotel but there is insufficient soundproofing/insulation in the walls so you can hear other guests in their rooms and in the corridors. This is an issue when people are returning to their rooms in the early hours of the morning. We were woken nightly due to this issue.

Yet another glowing review

Disclaimer: this is our third stay in the Balmes this year. And probably our 40th time in the last decade. This hotel has everything that we want when staying in a hotel. The staff are superb, the location brilliant, the inner courtyard with swimming pool an oasis of calm in a hectic part of the city. The only minor point of complaint was that housekeeping would refresh the towels almost daily, even though we had hung them to be reused (and not left on the floor). Given the current water shortages in and around Barcelona, this really shouldn’t be the case. Aside from this, I look forward to the day that we have something to really complain. Also, We will be back in November, there is no better hotel in Barcelona

My room was very spacious on 2 levels, up to a sitting room with a 2 seater settee, tv, fridge, wardrobe. Down to the bedroom & en-suite. Bed was great with an under stairs cupboard for clothes. En-suite - shower great, for me the shallow sink wasn’t deep enough. Outside pool is small & ok for cooling off. Didn’t use the gym but it didn’t appear to be air conditioned

We were welcomed at the hotel very early in the morning due to flight delays and had a very quick check in. We took breakfast on the first morning in a pleasant dining room but the staff were quite slow to serve guests and the buffet food was not replenished very quickly when it ran out. The room, which was very nice overlooking a busy street, was made up every day. When checking out at around 6:30am the gentleman at the desk seemed more preoccupied chatting to his colleague than dealing with us and after giving us our receipt turned away and spoke to his colleague without acknowledging us in any way. gracias por tu hospitalidad

They don’t greet you when you come in maybe that’s a thing here. Rooms thin walls , I can hear people outside the door and the footsteps and luggage being drag on the floor above . Rooms are big enough, clean and got a great bathroom strong shower with good drainage . I hate it when they don’t drain well so would still recommend this place

Clean room, helpful staff. No airport shuttle available. The Executive Single Room had a single plug tucked all the way behind the bed. You’ll have to climb up the bed every time you need to use it, and you can only charge one device at a time, which is quite inconvenient for a traveller. This detail would have improved my experience here.
