Changed the stay dates without telling me

Changed the stay dates without asking or telling me - which meant VRBO had to cancel the booking. This caused me to on the streets of Barcelona with no hotel and no help from the booking company.

Unacceptable. A few days before check in, host requested a refundable deposit and extra tourist fees. She would not answer any other questions not pertaining to money. Then she changed the dates of our stay moving everything ahead by one day without our request. We questioned this immediately but did not receive an answer. She sent check in information and said she would let us know when the apartment was ready. Never heard from her, so we decided to show up and give it a shot. Upon arrival, we asked about wifi and password and again no response. I started calling VRBO to get an answer about our dates since we didn't know if we could stay or not, if we needed to reserve somewhere else and be jipped a night, or if we left we would come back to find our things missing. I called VRBO a total of four times during our stay. This caused undue stress during what was supposed to be relaxing family time. This spanned four days without a response, and VRBO could not even get a response. On the final day, while I was on the phone with VRBO, the host finally messaged me and let me know that we could check out on the day we had originally planned. She sent the message with a happy face no less! Apartment was decent, however the second bathroom is tiny. There was bedding left in the dryer, glass under fridge, wrapper left in fridge, a bit of trash in cans. Now we are having to fight to get our refundable depost back since the host has not sent. I hope no one else goes through this!
