I.HOUSE AND GARDEN EXTERIOR:
The house is built at ground level, with the exterior partly in natural stone and partly in terracotta brickwork. Light grey-blue shutters on an orange-ochre wall background, surrounded by the lush green of the garden and the blue of the lake, make the house shine in the colours of the south. The W side of the house, with an approx. 25 m2 large, partly covered terrace, looks out over a row of very tall and shady olive trees, approx. 150 metres as the crow flies to the lake, the N side with the smaller garden section looks towards Bardolino (only approx. 400 m away on foot). To the east, the house and garden border on our private road with other neighbouring houses and also large gardens in the neighbourhood, which are embedded towards the hinterland in the green, hilly landscape around Bardolino, which is mainly characterised by vineyards. And to the south is the large and sunniest part of our fully fenced garden, which covers a total of approx. 950m2 and has a large play and sunbathing lawn lined with many olive trees and a broad canopy of vines, guaranteeing plenty of sunbathing as well as relaxation in pleasantly cooler shady spots, So does our covered terrace, which, due to the giant olive trees in front offers only in spring and late autumn a very limited view of the lake.
So everyone will find a suitable spot in our garden, whether sun worshippers or family members seeking shade because they are doing sport or playing with their small children, or because they prefer to chill out in a quiet, secluded spot to read a book or relax.
I. THE INTERIOR OF THE HOUSE:
1.living-dining room form a large (approx. 50 m2) light-flooded ‘open space’ with an open fireplace in the centre, which divides it into an open kitchen and dining and living room area with large glass fronts to the terrace.
1.1 The kitchen is composed on the ine side by a practical 3.00m long worktop above the dishwasher/washing machine, 2 fridges and gas hob and on the one side a large kitchen island with many drawers on both sides for all the pots of different sizes (Fissler) and kitchen utensils as well as plenty of crockery!
1.2 The living and dining area with partly modern, partly antique furniture are both very personally and creatively designed: For example, the landlord has replaced all the modern doors with beautiful old Venetian hinged double doors, which obviously can´t be closed hermetically but at least from the inside with hooks.
The centrepiece of the house is an open fireplace with a cosy sofa and armchairs in front of it and next to it a dining area (consisting of a 3.50 m long antique monastery table with 6 very artistically carved chairs from Sicily). As second fireplace there is also a large wood-burning stove with a viewing window, which quickly provides cosy warmth in the large open space.
2. Bedrooms:
3 bedrooms are grouped around the large central living/dining room and promise silence and relax because the windows show to the southern and eastern part of the garden and not to the main road around the lake in the west. The children's room is furnished with 3 single beds = 0.90m x 1.90m and
two bedrooms of different sizes, one very small but very nice, with a beautiful antique French double bed (1.25mx1.90m), the other large with a modern bed and extra-large latex mattress for the giants from the north! As everywhere in the house, the bedrooms with partly modern, partly antique furniture collected over a long life and lovingly restored show great ingenuity and taste in the interior design also thanks to many personal creative details such as hand-made old roof tiles transformed into wall lights, the pictures (partly real paintings), the combination of colours ... which all together create a living style of summery-Italian beauty and a very special, cheerful and artistically cultivated atmosphere. Who appreciates this more than the pleasure of functional, perfect modern furnishings is the perfect guest for this house.
