High Force Hotel

6/10 Okay

"There is a reason this is a three star hotel. Despite some pleasant room decor and very helpful staff there are many things that let it down. Exterior is shoddy, rooms look over a busy road or a busy courtyard- both are noisy when windows are open in warm weather. Menu disappointing and limited - there was literally nothing that enticed me. There was also a lack of choice for vegan or even veggie options. Hoovering the bar and restaurant at 7:40am was so loud in our first floor room it may as well have been in our room - easily avoided and really annoying when you have come away to relax and get a much needed lie in. The garden which could and should have been a delightful asset was overgrown and depressing. This hotel is clearly trying to punch above its weight but it just isn’t quite getting there - in my opinion. That said the staff were great and the bed very comfortable both of which do go a long way to an enjoyable stay."

"The room was nice & clean , a bonus was the air conditioning as it was hot weather . We also ate evening meal there which was ok , breakfast was plentiful with a good choice . We only stayed one night on our way to Scotland & our daughter & family met us there to complete the journey . What was nice was that they were able to park & use the hotel for food / drinks etc . Thankyou we appreciated that 😊"

"Warm, friendly greeting at reception on arrival. Parking onsite but would also be great if the hotel offered free or discounted parking. Spotlessly clean and comfortable room with high quality toiletries and complimentary minibar items. Stunning hallway, bar and restaurant. Welcoming and friendly staff in the bar and at breakfast. Plenty options at breakfast from the cold buffet and cooked to order options on offer but full cooked breakfast was tasty but not at the level expected when in a Marco Pierre White restaurant. Eggs Benedict on the day before was much better. All in all, a beautiful, comfortable and welcoming hotel. Would definitely stay here again/recommend to anyone coming to the area"
