Our room was big and very clean. The staff were welcoming and helpful. We found our room quite cold as it was a large room. On our 2nd night we got a free standing heater and a blanket too.

The stunning Bowes museum is a must visit with a fantastic collection of paintings, ceramics and silverware. Great selection of small shops and places to drink and eat. Beautiful landscape.

The weekend we stayed 1940 themed weekend, whole community had got involved, shops, businesses, all dressed and decorated accordingly. Young and old had all participated lovely to see in this day and age real spirit of community.
