"Walls were paper thin, sounded like the people next door were literally walking in our room. The bathroom was tiny, the toilet was made for a 6 yr old not an adult. Would not stay there again. "
"Tried to check in at 4pm, Issues with check in due to weather issues the day prior, but this was told this, just room was not ready. Waited till 5:20 for room/keys, went to room and it was still being cleaned. Waited another 20 minutes. Dot 2 drink tickets for the wait. Had the worst 2 beds I have ever seen/tried to sleep on in over 30 years of traveling the US. Dips in mattresses were horrendous. Not able to change rooms as "no other rooms available", supposedly, we saw a couple of other unoccupied room in same building. Maybe the per booked golfers get the good rooms. "
Southern Boho inspired Geodesic Dome nestled up next to Big Bend National Park.
8/10 Good
"The property was further off the beaten path than I expected and about 30ish mins from terlingua. The property was as pictured on the site. The door was hard to open and shut to the room with the digital lock. The room was clean and cutely decorated. The coffee machine was kind of like a nespresso machine which was nice. We had a great view of the mountains. The exterior shell is more like a tarp so with the wind it was decently noisy at night. The bath house was probably the least pleasing part. With it being a coed bathroom the only locked doors are the toilets. The showers are open with just a curtain where someone could walk in if the wanted. The sink was leaking really badly and the shower handle fell off and wasn’t attached. There’s only one sink and two toilets and two showers. We didn’t have to wait for the facilities. There’s no bath and bodywork’s products as listed in the advertisement. There are disposable shower shoes. You can’t flush toilet paper down and the waste basket wasn’t emptied the whole weekend we were there. Kinda gross. Overall it was a good place but there were closer places to big bend park that are similar and there’s no food or stores within about 30 mins so you should come prepared. We had a decent time staying here. There were games in the room, extra chargers if you need one, water machine in the room. We didn’t try to grill, firepit or popcorn machine but they were available if needed. "
"My wife and I are in our 70's. The two chairs, small table, and bed are very low to the floor. We had a hard time getting out of them. No arm rest on either of the chairs. A couple of standard chairs and table would have been nice. Both showers were pretty unique, but the inside shower floor was pretty slippery and no grab bars for elderly people like us.Other than what I mentioned above it is a wonderful place."
Fossil Knob Ridge -Chisos: Ultra-Modern Container Home
10/10 Excellent
"I am so glad that we found and stayed at the Chisos house. It was perfect for me, my wife, and my teenage daughter. It was a great place to come back to after all-day excursions at Big Bend. We loved everything about the house - the layout, location, bedrooms, kitchen, and the outdoor setup. It was nice to relax on the patio and then at night, have a fire going and then get to see the awesome night sky! This place was pretty secluded, which is a huge plus for us. The road to get to it is definitely rough and, as they mentioned, a high-clearance vehicle is recommended. Still, I saw some smaller vehicles on that road so if you go slow enough, I think it's still doable. If/when we go back to big bend, I'm not sure if I would need to look for anywhere else to stay. Highly recommend!"
