The staff went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The manager was always available, the maintenance man was terrific, and the housekeeping crew were very helpful. We were in town for hiking and site seeing. The location suited our needs well.

The property is old and smells like smoke even though it’s a no smoking facility. Holes the the curtains and old bedspread. Carpet is old. The staff was doing their best to accommodate everyone’s needs but working appliances in the breakfast area would help them keep up w customer demands.

This place is poorly sound proofed. You could hear your neighbour talking and coughing. Children running around above us. You could hear phones in the rooms close by. Good thing it was only for one night.

I did not like getting to my room and there was someone booked in that room already. The door to the bathroom has a hole in it it doesn’t close properly and there was to hair dryer…just the holes in the wall where the hair dryer goes. Extremely poor conditions for the price I am paying for this room. I would like to be contacted by the manager.

The room was clean and quiet. I had 2 small dogs with me. The elevator was broken so it was cumbersome to get upstairs. There was no refrigerator or coffee station. There were shampoos and soaps etc., but the packaging was difficult to tear open. The bed and pillows, however were very comfortable and I had a restful sleep.

Awful! Busted room doors, 3 adults and the only channel was Disney playing Bluey all night. No TV remote. Couldn’t get extra pillow. No sheets blankets or pillows for the hide-a-bed. Two towels in room that sleeps 4. The elevators did not work and our room was on the third floor! And it had an awful odor!

The room directly above us (#204) did not let us sleep. They were walking with heavy feet, walking and dropping things the whole night. We complaint to the reception, but did nothing to stop them. The worst hotel we ever had on our travels ever.

The lady that checked us in wasn’t friendly, the elevator was broken and I’m pregnant and had two young children and had to carry all our bags up 3 flights of stairs. The bathroom and the walls are gross but the sheets were clean.

Check in lady was having a really bad day. She was rude to a couple guests in front of me and that didn’t change when it was my turn. When I questioned the paperwork upon checkin, her answer was “what does it say?” Totally blew me off. Judging my observations before, during, and after check in, she doesn’t like white people. I would be surprised if this hasn’t been mentioned before. Additionally, I have pictures of my room upon entering if anyone is interested. In the end, the lesson learned was I got exactly what I paid for… a $62.00 hotel experience. I’ll be sure to avoid this hotel chain in the future.

Our first room was dirty and the tv didn’t work. We switched rooms and that tv didn’t work either. It wasn’t important enough to switch rooms again. I tried booking again a couple weeks later and the black lady at the front desk refused to rent me a room because I live in West Virginia. I’m from mingo county. Almost 3 hours away.

First of all, my sheets had a live ant in them and lots of dark stains at the bottom. Housekeeping changed the sheets. Secondly, my room was on the first floor. In the evening, several people in a pickup truck pulled up just outside my window to fill up several large containers with water from a hose. They all smoked and the smoke got into my room, making it very unpleasant. This should never have happened. I was too tired at that point to ask for a new room.

We stopped here for a brief overnight on our way to Florida. Very comfortable hotel with clean facilities and a nice breakfast included. Front staff were lovely, and very welcoming. Would stop here again if it is on our way.

This property is in dire need of a complete update. From the condition of the elevator, hallway carpet and then our room, which was disgusting. Sheets had stains, walls had been patched from damage but you could tell where they tried to match paint. Door to room was damaged at the bottom. TV was crooked and on top of the armoire. Room was for 2 people but only 1 chair available at desk. Walls & ceiling were so thin, you could hear other guests talking and walking above our room. Breakfast was supposed to be ready at 6:30. Staff was still setting it up at 6:50 am. Chairs in lobby area were still sitting on top of tables the whole time we were there. Should have been refunded for such a terrible experience.

We pulled back the covers and the sheets on the bed were were covered in stains. We went down to the front desk to request a new room. The new room had stained pillow cases. We covered the pillows with towels and slept in our clothes/coats on top of the bed since it was too late at night to switch hotels.

NEVER BOOK HERE! We booked online for our family, including small children. When we arrived, the front desk clerk (who was most certainly jaded and not friendly) was telling the woman ahead of us that they had oversold rooms and had nothing for her, having reserved a room but not yet paid. The desk clerk also told her that she wasn’t allowed to stay at the hotel anyways, because they had a paper sign on their front desk stating that they only give rooms to out of town/state customers, which somehow excluded this woman who lived 3 hrs away. Then, she also told us, who had reserved and already paid for a room, that we too would have to find another place to stay because there were no rooms, as they had oversold the rooms. The only good thing about it was that after going through Expedia, we have been told that a refund should be issued to us. I’ll NEVER be booking with Expedia or this hotel again.

This is not a 7/10 hotel. Beds and towels have been replaced but everything else was very dirty, worn and in disrepair. Couldn’t even touch the light switch. Toilet seat didn’t stay on. We only needed a place to sleep for the night, to break up a long drive. Non smoking hotel but the room was terrible with cigarette smoke. Even my clean clothes from out of the suitcase picked up the odor in one night. Pay a few more bucks and stay somewhere else.

We had to wait forever to check in. Lady behind the desk was overwelmed and scatter brained. Hotel smells like WEED everywhere. My room has holes in the bathroom door, the bathroom is split open, looks like something was pulled off the wall in the bathroom because the paint is peeling above the sink. There is NO refridgerator or microwave in the room. Just overall not a good experience. To the point that I am booked the entire weekend and want nothing more then to change hotels immediately. Do not consider this hotel when booking in the Beckley area. Saving a few bucks is not worth it.

Don't stay at this property!!! It isn't clean and certainly didn't live up to my expectations of a Microtel property. We had to change rooms 3 times before we found one that we could even think about staying in. The bathroom was dirty and the toilet seat was painted with flecks of paint sticking to you when you sat on it. The microwave handle was broken off and the TV didn't work. But most importantly, the room was NOT CLEAN!!!

Very nice receptionist, BUT the rooms were badly in need of repair and remodeling. The room that I had was without a blanket, only sheets on the bed, and I slept with my clothes on.
