Cabin rental near Cedar Point, Lake Erie, with Hot Tub, Campfire Pit, Gas Grill

Dancing Fox is in keeping with our circa 1842 farmstead home ambiance. Often early settlers would build a prairie style cabin on the same property prior to building a more permanent home and Dancing Fox Cabin is a reflection and our vision of one of those early structures, yet features the comforts we all enjoy.

With it’s rural locale setting, barn wood exterior, interior walls sheathed in white-washed with 1800s boards, wide-plank antique pine flooring, hand-made cabinetry with vintage chalkboard counter tops and barn beam framing…you will be enveloped by the subtle feelings of our pioneers, a sense of soothing well-being and one of a simpler more calmer lifestyle yet features all your modern amenities.

The Dancing Fox Cabin is your opportunity to experience what most lodging in Ohio doesn't offer. Imagine as you follow its pathway to your front porch, stepping across the threshold of an original swinging barn door and upon entry you'll begin feasting your eyes, spirit and senses upon … another time and another place.

Our settler-style cabin may become an unforgettable highlight during your visit to our area. Our initial goal was to utilize in the building process as many reclaimed, recycled, vintage and antique materials as possible in the construction of this self-built structure. To this end result, we were quite successful. Approximately 95% of its total materials have been salvaged and re-purposed from various sources. The blending of all these various components into a harmonious finished product is one that is memorable, soothing, and yet to many, exciting. As different as the exterior’s first impression may be, the cabin’s interior is where your visual senses will be captivated. Wherever your eyes and hands rove you will discover subtly aged textures, hand created items and coordinated color palettes that enhance the feelings of subtle rustic relaxation. These time worn nuances now re-shed their light from simpler by-gone days and are captured by our cabin’s cozy comfortable environment. The lasting effect is one you won't forget. “Memories are made at Dancing Fox Cabin.”

Our cabin resides behind our 1842 farm home on our “off the beaten path” farmland environment with plenty of privacy which removes you from both the heavy traffic and people congestion normally associated with other vacation rentals. Our centralized location is very convenient to the multitudes of attractions, events and activities found throughout the entire north central Ohio region. Lake Erie’s south shore, Cedar Point Amusement Park, fishing, boating, antique shops and flea markets, dining, golfing, historical attractions, wineries and festivals are all within quick and easy driving distances. Major highways such as the Ohio 80/90 Turnpike, U.S. State Rt. 20 and others are practically at your doorstep and conveniences for groceries and other necessities are only minutes away.

GREAT GET AWAY
My daughter and I wanted a quiet get away and that’s exactly what we got! It was close to own if you needed something, but a safe, quiet, country cabin. Very rustic which I love! The owners of this cabin have thought of everything from towels, linens, dishes, and coffee & tea with honey sticks to lighter fluid and roasting sticks for the fire pit. we loved every minute and the visit from Miso the friendly cat was just icing on the cake!! (i would recommend mosiquito repellant which is something i usually always take to a cabin but forgot,) I would definitely return to this cabin!!

Unique cabin
We enjoyed our stay at the homestead cabin. The setting is peaceful and the furnishings comfortable. The foldout couch was nice for an extra place to sleep. Gary was very accommodating. We liked reading about the cabin construction in the extensive guest binder. It was a nice place to rest after a long day at Cedar Point. The Old Woman Creek National Estuarine Research Reserve is great for nature lovers.

Perfect Cabin Escape
This was our second stay at Dancing Fox Cabin and everything was exactly as expected. Rustic, homey, private, and exactly what we were hoping for. The wifi was spotty at times - this was not the case during our first visit - but when it worked, it was perfect. Otherwise, we’re looking forward to another visit, hopefully soon. Thank you Gary, Miso, et al!

Cozy and quaint
The rustic setting of this cabin was wonderful. Secluded and very comfortable. Coffee maker is a keurig so you can bring your own kcups if you like. Easy access. Stayed there during the Ames Tri-Power Nationals that were held at Summit Motorsport Raceway. 20 minutes from the track. Very nice out door fire pit and chairs outside to enjoy nature. Recommend the local golf course and restaurant that has excellent food and service!

Not horrible
Hot tub is NOT near the cabin, nor is it private. It is by the main house, and anyone there can see you. Neighbors are ridiculously loud ( we were aware there might be noise from engines and such) but the 60 minute long fireworks ( no we did not stay on 07/04) and then the dirt bikes or what not at 11:00 was not for us. There are also groundhogs that live under the cabin and they were digging all night so that was great. Cabin was very nice and furnished and felt “clean” for the most part I will say that. Lots of games, dishes, ect. It was secluded and you felt like you were out in the woods which was nice.

Good for one night. This place is a studio. No rooms.
Nice location to Cedar point and Put in Bay.The place itself was cool with all the decor and the explanation of where they got all the materials was super neat. I hate leaving bad reviews because not everyone has the same taste and expectations as others, but we didnt enjoy our stay much. You are definelty in someones back yard butted up to a corn field. Its what I would describe as a child's playhouse in the backyard behind the house. The neighbors are the biggest downfall for me even with the critters. The music bumping all three nights and a non stop barking dog is not peaceful. There was a mouse that would pop out of the fireplace and say hello when it was bedtime each night. It is expected I suppose with the location, but I couldn't sleep knowing it was looking at me.A weasel of some sort living under the porch that woke us up each morning killing his breakfast.Im fine with the circle of life but not hearing it.The hot tub is on the main houses back porch so it was kind of uncomfortable to use.A man came out to smoke on the porch while we were in it.We did use it though and it was very clean. If you're a huge coffee drinker like us,bring a pot.The one they have is a like Hotel one and it only brews 2 cups at a time. The fridge is a camper style one so dont get groceries first. It doesn't fit much.It also didnt cool very well. Also, bring your own toilet paper if you dont like one ply.The nightly rate is a little high for what you get.
